Initially built as an observation post for the royal army, it was later expanded to allow Roopmati to pray to the river Narmada for her beloved's wellbeing. • Jami Masjid ranks among India's largest mosques, influenced by the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus. Construction began under Sultan Hoshang Shah Ghori and was completed in 1454 A.D. by Mahmud Shah Khilji. It features remarkable architecture, including Jali work, painted enamels, and ornate domes and arches. • The palace of gold coins is actually a Madrassa, an institution for Islamic education. It originally included a seven-story tower, commemorating Mahmud Shah Khilji's victory over Rana Khumba of Mewar; however, only one story remains standing today. • Jahaz Mahal, or the Ship Palace, was built by Ghiyasuddin for the 15,000 women in his harem. The structure resembles a ship and once served as an opulent palace, complete with large halls, cenotaphs on the upper levels, and Turkish baths below, equipped for both hot and cold water.
