• The temple dedicated to Lord Rudreshwara (Shiva) and recognized as a world heritage site was constructed in the 13th century under the Kakatiya ruler Ganapati Deva. This sandstone structure is notable for its architectural beauty, featuring decorated beams and carved granite pillars. A unique aspect of this temple is its use of lightweight porous bricks, known as ‘floating bricks’, which help reduce the weight of the roof. • The Bhadrakali temple, one of the oldest sites dedicated to the worship of the mother goddess, is historically significant as it housed the Kohinoor diamond as the goddess's left eye in the 14th century. Built in AD 625, it is situated in a scenic area on the banks of Bhadrakali Lake. The temple is characterized by its square pillars, which present a distinctive architectural style. A notable feature is the sculpture of a fierce lion, the divine vehicle of the Goddess, positioned facing the sanctum. • The Thousand Pillar Temple, our final location in Warangal, is considered one of the finest examples of Kakatiya architecture. Established in 1163 AD by King Rudra Deva, this temple encompasses three shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, Vishnu, and the sun god. It contains 1000 pillars, each adorned with intricate carvings. A remarkable architectural detail is that these pillars are arranged in a manner that ensures none obstructs the view of the shrine. The temple is designed in the shape of a star, and the pillars feature elaborate artwork, allowing the morning sunlight to shine directly on the Shiva Lingam.
