2Note: More operators are using the same cave, so we can't guarantee being alone in the cave. If you want less crowded experiences we recommend taking a look at our blue ice experience - glacier hiking tours. An extra-small group tour to an ice cave located on Vatnajökull, Europe's largest glacier. This tour is operated by a small, local company. You'll meet your licensed guide at Jökulsárlón. From there it's an approximately 35 minute drive in a 4x4 truck to the glacier parking. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the edge of the glacier. There we put on crampons and start a 45 minute hike on the ice towards the ice cave. We usually spend around 30-45 minutes in the cave, taking plenty of photos and exploring the various formations in the cave.
3The Blue Ice Cave - This natural phenomenon is undeniably the most awesome and mesmerizing in Iceland. As it form naturally every winter under the glacier, our guides have to search for them every winter since their location is not the same. Throughout the winter, the shape, size, structure, and position of the Ice Cave keeps changing as the ice melts during the day and freezes again during the night. Let our professional guide explain to you the how what and why. Come and be awed by Mother Nature. You will be driven on to the glacier by specially modified vehicle with experience glacier guide to the entrance of the ice cave. It will be an unforgetable experience. 4Ice caves in Iceland are unpredictable and you never know when, if, where or how many will form. But in the last few years, they have consistently formed by Vatnajökull glacier, which is the largest glacier in Europe. They are beautiful to see and a popular photo opportunity for many travelers. This tour will take you on an exploration of an ice cave inside the National Park of Vatnajökull. Ice caves are a rare phenomena that form naturally, so this tour is a once in a life time experience.
5The Jökulsárlón Glacier lagoon is considered as one of the natural wonders of Iceland. Paddling on the Glacier lagoon provides outstanding experience and gives participants maqnificent view of the ice cap and the vast dome of ice that rises above. 6This is currently the best easy-access blue ice experience in Vatnajökull National Park: incredible views & photo opportunities without a difficult hike. The tour begins at Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where massive icebergs drift toward the Atlantic Ocean. Climb aboard a Super Jeep for an off‑road adventure to the edge of Vatnajökull. We drive for about 30 minutes to reach the glacier. Once we leave the main road, the ride gets bumpy and offers amazing views of the landscape. When we arrive, we give you all the gear you need: a helmet, headlamp, and crampons for your boots. It is typically a 15-20 minute walk on the glacier to reach the ice canyons & hidden caves. This walk is easy for most people, and no prior experience is required. Depending on the light and the weather, you will see colours ranging from bright blue to pure white, depending on the light, snowfall, and what nature has created this season.
