The time we spent in the volcano parks was more enjoyable than the sights in Hilo, which were still intriguing. This tour is the finest we’ve experienced in a volcanic area. It was a full day with numerous stops, so it's crucial to return to the vehicle on time for everyone to enjoy the later stops. Our guide was friendly, well-informed, and ensured we stayed on schedule. To save time, our guide bought sandwiches for us at the start instead of making a lunch stop.
The tour guide was excellent, and I really loved the experience at the volcano. I highly recommend it. The group was small, with only 12 participants in the van.
This tour was excellent. Our guide, Mike, was fantastic with our group of six women. He managed the timing perfectly, ensuring we felt unhurried while experiencing a comprehensive tour. We visited the farmer’s market, Rainbow Falls, a local gas station for lunch sandwiches in the national park, went shopping, explored all the park sites, and even stopped at a candy store. Everyone in our group left Hilo with a love for the island.
We had a fantastic day exploring the big island, with visits to volcano steam vents and a hike through a lava tube. Our guide and the tour company provided excellent service, and there were plenty of stops throughout the day.
The experience felt like a waste of both time and money. It appeared that the driver prioritized visits to various stores or food spots where he had connections, pushing us to purchase items.
Our guide was excellent—knowledgeable and humorous, sharing fascinating stories about the region. The visit to Volcano National Park was enjoyable, with multiple stops where our guide explained everything thoroughly. Walking through the lava tube was the day's highlight. Other stops were decent; the Japanese garden stood out, followed by the falls. However, the black sand beach was underwhelming and should probably be removed from the itinerary. The lunch stop felt strange as we were left in a Walmart parking lot with a tacky food court. Overall, it was a solid excursion, and we gained a lot of insight into the area. I would recommend it.
I strongly advise against this company due to their unsatisfactory customer service. We encountered an emergency that made it unsafe to attend the tour, but they refused to offer even a partial refund and did not answer my calls. I can only imagine how they handle problems during the tour itself.
Ernie provided an excellent experience for us. His knowledge of the island and volcanoes was impressive, and he was patient, going above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. The ride was comfortable, and he did well to accommodate the diverse age groups on the tour.
Sean is an exceptional guide for small groups. Our tour was perfect, with a very relaxed atmosphere. He answered all our questions and shared a wealth of knowledge about the history, flowers, trees, and volcanoes. His cheerful demeanor and sense of humor made the experience enjoyable. He also ensured that my 84-year-old mother was well-cared for and could take part in the excursion. Excellent job, Sean!
We were let down by our guide, David. We missed several stops we were meant to make, particularly Rainbow Falls. With only four of us on the tour, there was no reason we shouldn't have stopped. David appeared disinterested and provided minimal information. If time was an issue, we could have foregone the visits to the candy and nut stores. Although we did see some interesting sights, we simply wished for a different guide.
