We organized this Big Island tour with Aloha Aina Tours and spent a wonderful day visiting Punaluʻu Black Sand Beach (where we saw turtles!), Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, Hilo, Pāhoa/Keaʻau Lava Tube, Rainbow Falls, the King Kamehameha Statue, and the stunning Akaka Falls. Our guide Amanda was personable and informative, providing fascinating details about Hawaiian culture and nature along the way. The inclusion of lunch and drinks made for a hassle-free experience. I highly recommend this tour.
This was hands down the best tour in Hilo, in my opinion. We went with Aloha Aina Tours and the experience lasted around 7 to 8 hours. We were in a small, air-conditioned van, and a tasty sandwich lunch was included. Our guide shared stories about the island's history and folklore, and he was great at answering our questions. Overall, an excellent tour.
Amanda served as an exceptional tour guide and driver, sharing extensive knowledge about the island's flora and fauna during our visit to Hilo, Hawaii.
My wife and I enjoyed an incredible tour with Aloha Aina Hawaii Tours in Hilo. The pricing was quite fair, and everything was included. Highlights included visiting the Punalu’u black sand beach to see sea turtles, exploring Volcano National Park to witness Mount Kīlauea erupt, and stopping by both Rainbow Falls and Akaka Falls, with all entrance fees covered. Our tour guide, Amanda, was very friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about her role. Her extensive understanding of history, botany, biology, zoology, and sociology made the tour even more enriching. She also provided us with sandwiches, juice, and bottled water for lunch. To top it off, we visited a handmade candy factory where we sampled delicious candies and Kona coffee. Overall, it was an outstanding experience, and I strongly recommend Aloha Aina Hawaii Tours.
This excursion was quite solid, earning a 4.5 out of 5. There were many positive aspects, but one significant issue. On the plus side, the company maintained excellent communication, provided clear instructions, and delivered what was promised. Despite the constant rain—which wasn't their fault—they made efforts to accommodate us. Our guide, Amanda, was engaging and shared valuable insights, making the experience enjoyable and humorous. The small lunch they offered was also quite tasty. However, a key drawback was the vehicle's seating arrangement. Although it states a capacity of 14, it’s better suited for a maximum of 12. The back row contains narrower seats, and the rear tire wells limit legroom, which was uncomfortable for my sons and me, as we're all over 6 feet tall. We found ourselves with sore legs after several 45-minute rides. I recommend booking this tour, but arrive early to secure better seating or ensure it isn’t fully booked.
Initially, we planned to join the fissure 8 tour, but due to low bookings, we participated in the Punalu’u Black Sand Beach Tour - Hilo Discovery and Volcanoes National Park Explorer instead. Our guide, Holley, was excellent; she was knowledgeable and didn’t rush us at all. I do wish they could include a stop at Volcano House since the visitor center is closed, as I hoped to pick up a souvenir while on vacation. Choose Aloha Aina Tours; you won’t regret it.
Our guide, Dave C, was wonderful—educational, kind, and supportive. This tour is essential, showcasing stunning black sands, turtles, volcanoes, lava tubes, and more. The walk to see the turtles was much simpler compared to another tour we took. The beach is beautiful! Although we missed the volcano eruption, the steam vents were impressive. This tour was manageable for those in our group with chronic pain and illnesses.
The tour size was just right with 11 participants, and our guide, Amanda, was both engaging and knowledgeable. We had ample time to enjoy each stop.
Amanda is an incredible guide with an impressive wealth of knowledge about the islands, their history, and the rich culture embedded in every aspect of the landscape. Her enthusiasm for sharing her insights is contagious; she truly embodies the history she shares, making it resonate during the tour. She is undoubtedly the most kind and friendly guide we've encountered, making us feel welcome immediately. Her genuine excitement elevated the tour to an unforgettable experience. It's evident why this tour company values her as a guide—she reflects their commitment to excellence perfectly. The sights we explored were stunning, showcasing the transformative beauty of travel. Amanda's storytelling enriched each location, providing context and depth that guidebooks can't convey. The shopping was impressive as well. If you're thinking about this tour, don't hesitate; just book it and request Amanda. You will not be let down.
Our group is still discussing this tour. With a large group, I wanted something enjoyable for all, and I discovered this company through a Facebook recommendation. We were not let down. Holley, our tour guide, made us feel reassured from the moment she picked us up. That morning, she learned Kilauea might put on a show, and she was determined to make it happen for us. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and everyone had a fantastic day—it's the highlight of our entire trip. We explored parts of Volcano National Park, and Holley ensured everyone had the chance to see what they wanted. Additionally, we experienced the main attractions of Hilo, complete with her insightful stories and personal touches at each stop. I highly recommend this company; it's worth it.
