This experience was truly magical and unforgettable. Our guide, Henry, was exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly, making extra stops on our way to the viewing point. We had the perfect location for sightseeing. Even during a full moon, we were able to see hundreds of stars and constellations. Henry provided remarkable views with and without the telescope, capturing stunning photos of the full moon as well. The parkas, snacks, and hot drinks were wonderful additions. I would absolutely do this again!
The guide was pleasant, but I feel the cost is excessive. It would be helpful if they clarified in the description that the tour does not go to the summit and only reaches below the visitor center. It's a simple 45-minute drive from Hilo, and if you have a rental car, you can easily make the trip yourself.
This was an incredible experience. Our guide, Rich, provided excellent knowledge and kept us engaged throughout the tour. While everything was fantastic, the star gazing was truly breathtaking. Rich highlighted numerous constellations and showcased nebulae and galaxies. I truly appreciated it.
ERIC IS INCREDIBLE. His knowledge is exceptional and he was very patient with us. We were fortunate to have a perfectly clear night, which was an added bonus. Our discussions about astronomy and Hawaiian culture were thoroughly enjoyable. I would wholeheartedly recommend a tour with him!
This was a wonderful opportunity to observe the night sky from the mountains, where light pollution is minimal. The presenter did an excellent job of explaining the constellations.
This tour was excellent. Rich, our guide, was both friendly and well-informed. The heavy rain at Rainbow Falls and the Boiling Pots enhanced the experience, though I recommend bringing a poncho and suitable shoes for wet conditions. While we skipped solar gazing, the stargazing was fantastic. We observed stars, the moon, Saturn, Jupiter, various star clusters, the Orion Nebula, and the Andromeda Galaxy through the telescope. The stargazing site was incredible as well.
The guide was both friendly and well-informed. The tour featured several interesting locations around town, followed by an excellent stargazing spot. He had extensive knowledge about the stars, making for a great experience under the night sky.
I felt somewhat let down by this tour. We didn't visit Maunakea as mentioned in the description. I rated it 3 stars for our guide, Sam, who did try to point out the stars to us.
