This half-day tour provides a comprehensive exploration of Hilo's natural highlights, starting with pickup and drop-off in the Hilo area. You'll first head to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, home to Kilauea, the world's most active volcano. From the visitor center, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Kilauea crater and walk through the renowned Nahuku (Thurston Lava Tube).
Following your volcano visit, a local restaurant awaits for an island-inspired lunch. The excursion continues with visits to Rainbow Falls and the famous Punaluʻu black sand beach, showcasing the region’s stunning landscapes. Please note that the tour includes moderate walking, featuring about 15 stairs during the lava tube exploration, and is not wheelchair accessible.

This excursion was outstanding. Rainbow Falls was stunning, the volcano was active at Volcano National Park, and the beach was enjoyable, complete with turtle sightings. A tasty lunch at the Volcano House added to the experience. Guides Desmond and Anthony were excellent—knowledgeable and attentive. When the National Park and highway closures occurred, they creatively found alternate routes so we could still visit the beach before being returned to the cruise ship. We greatly valued the pick-up and drop-off service at the port, which was much simpler than using an Uber.
The guides were excellent and tried hard, and we were fortunate to witness the volcano erupting, which was incredible. They showed a lot of knowledge. I rated it four stars because once things began shutting down due to the eruption, they could have concluded the tour earlier.
This was a wonderful experience, with the two guides being outstanding and very knowledgeable. They answered all questions from the group. Desmond and Anthony are fantastic individuals, and I would strongly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Big Island.
This tour was exceptional! Anthony was fantastic—fun, adaptable, and knowledgeable about history. His accompanying pictures were very useful. I was pleasantly surprised by the inclusion of lunch. Desmond and Anthony provided an excellent experience with three fantastic stops, along with fascinating island history. The lunch was also quite enjoyable.
I would rate this tour even higher if possible! Desmond and Anthony were outstanding guides, being incredibly kind, generous, and knowledgeable. Their passion for the culture was evident, and we gained a lot of insight. The food was fantastic as well.

We had an absolutely enjoyable day with our guide Anthony and driver/guide Ariel. They organized a delightful and educational experience. In a small group setting, they made sure to attend to all our needs with plenty of information and fun.
If there were a way to rate Desmond and Anthony a 10, I would definitely do it. The tour was informative, thrilling, and included some unexpected surprises. I highly recommend this experience; you won't be disappointed.
This is undoubtedly the best tour I've ever experienced. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the history, and it was a fun-filled day. Visiting the volcano, the black sand beach, and enjoying a delicious lunch made it all amazing. What’s not to love?
