This guided tour around the Big Island focuses on some of Hilo's standout natural attractions. Expect to spend about six hours visiting sites like Rainbow Falls and Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, where you’ll witness Kīlauea, the world's most active volcano, along with steaming vents and an ancient lava tube.
Lunch will be island-inspired, served at a local restaurant. Toward the end of the tour, you’ll have the chance to unwind at Punaluʻu black sand beach, a spot renowned for its uniquely volcanic landscape and frequent turtle visitors. Pickup and drop-off is only available within Hilo, and some moderate walking is involved, including climbing about 15 stairs during the lava tube segment.

It was a fantastic day with a small group, and we were lucky to avoid the rain. The lava tube experience was impressive, and seeing numerous turtles on the black beach was a delightful surprise. The lunch was excellent, as we could choose what we wanted, and it was prepared fresh. Our guides were friendly and very accommodating.
This tour surpassed our expectations, largely thanks to the kindness and expertise of our guides, Desmond and Anthony. Our group bonded well, and we explored a significant portion of the island, visiting fascinating sites like Rainbow Waterfall, the Thurston Lava tunnel, steam vents, and a crater. Lunch at Lava Rock Cafe was enjoyable. Anthony enriched our experience by displaying photos in the van and sharing insights about native wildlife, Hawaiian words, and traditional tools. We highly recommend this tour and hope you get the chance to have Desmond and Anthony as your guides.

Our experience was incredible, and we gained a wealth of knowledge about Hawaii and its culture. Desmond and Anthony were both very friendly and helpful. The pickup from the port was seamless. We explored stunning sights in Hilo, including Rainbow Falls and the National Volcano Park, and we were fortunate to see numerous sea turtles at Punalu’u Black Sand Beach. This excursion was a standout for us and has ignited our desire to return to the Big Island for further exploration. The food at Lava Rocks was exceptional as well. I highly recommend arranging your trip with these guides.
I highly recommend this tour. I booked three months in advance, and it was totally worthwhile. Both the guide and driver were exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly. We learned a lot and got to interact with some rare items that are usually not accessible. Despite the rain on tour day, our time in Hilo was fantastic. They thoughtfully provided umbrellas for everyone. The fruits, snacks, and lunch were all delicious, and I particularly appreciated the photos they took for us. If you're looking to genuinely experience Hilo, this tour is a must. It honestly ranks among the best tours I've ever participated in.
