• The tour of Hampi begins at Vijaya Vittala Temple, noted as the most impressive site in the area. This temple is built on a polyhedron foundation and features the famous stone chariot made of rough quartz. It displays carvings of soldiers, hunters, and even foreign visitors such as the Portuguese and Arabs. The temple is known for its musical pillars, a remarkable artistic achievement. • The final stop is King's Balance, a large stone framework located east of Purandara Mantapa, where a stone beam rests on two stone pillars. According to legend, the benevolent kings of Vijayanagara used to weigh themselves with gold and gems to distribute to those in need. • Next, the tour includes Virupaksha Temple, the oldest temple in Hampi dating back to the Hoysala period. Its tower stands 165 ft tall with eleven storeys, and the Tungabhadra River flows nearby. • We will visit Sasivekalu Ganesha Temple, home to an 8-foot statue of Lord Ganesha carved out of a single rock block. • A short distance from Badavi Linga, visitors can find the largest idol in Hampi, Ugra Narasimha, which stands at 22 feet tall and was created by a Brahmin during the reign of Krishnadevaraya. It features a serpent with an open hood behind it. • The Royal Enclosure of Hampi served as the center of the Vijayanagara kingdom's power and includes durbar halls, platforms, tanks, underground chambers, and temples. We will begin at Queen's Bath, a notable structure that served as the private bathing area for the royalty of the Vijayanagara Empire. • The next stop is the Zanana Enclosure, where royal women resided. The Lotus Mahal, a significant building here, is a two-storied structure encircled by a rectangular wall and four towers, resembling a lotus due to its pyramidal-shaped towers. • The only temple in the Royal Enclosure, Hazara Rama, is dedicated to Lord Ram, an incarnation of Vishnu. • Before concluding the day, the tour will also include visits to an excavated water tank, the administrative enclosure, and an underground Shiva temple.
