I strongly endorse this delightful experience. Joe, our guide and the SEAK owner, was professional, friendly, and insightful. The scenery was beautifully picturesque and peaceful. The activity level was fairly easy for active seniors in their 60s. Thank you, Joe!
Jeff and Joe, our guides and drivers, were thoroughly professional and attentive throughout the day. After an enjoyable scenic fast ferry ride to Haines, they ensured we understood safety while using the equipment and navigating the lake. The glacier-fed lake and its surroundings are stunning and located within a state park. We were fortunate to see a moose by the shoreline and took some great photos. It’s essential to bring bug spray, as it can be hard to manage both paddling and swatting bugs at times. I highly recommend this tour.
My girlfriend and I chose this excursion as a highlight of our Alaskan cruise, and while it was enjoyable, there’s definitely potential for improvement. We were picked up punctually and had a brief bus ride to the ferry, which took about 45 minutes to reach the lake. There were only six of us in the kayaking group, and while the safety briefing was good, it was disappointing that no water or snacks were provided, considering the high cost of this excursion, which was the most expensive we booked, surpassing even the whale watching trip. We did all the paddling, and the guide often drifted ahead, leaving us without much historical context during the kayaking. We did get to enjoy a couple of hours of hiking, which was pleasant, but having water during that hot day would have been a welcomed addition. After returning to the bus, we were taken back to the ferry drop-off but were not picked up for transportation back to the cruise port. Fortunately, we had enough time to walk back, but we were left waiting for our pickup for a while. The beautiful mountain scenery was a highlight, but overall, this experience could use some enhancements.
The tour was exceptionally well-organized, with thorough guidance throughout the adventure. Our young female guide, whose name I unfortunately can't recall, shared fascinating insights about Haines' history, pointed out the highlights during our bus ride, and made the kayaking experience engaging and enjoyable.
This small group tour was fantastic. Joe was informative and skillfully managed our group despite varying experience levels, making the day enjoyable. The kayaking was serene in a beautiful location; being so close to the water provided a unique experience. I highly recommend it.
The guides Kay, Erin, and Karly were excellent, and Josh and Jake helped us launch from the dock. It would have been a great kayaking experience if it hadn't been our first time; the rough waters made it challenging for my husband and me. Kay was supportive in getting us out of the rough spots and back along the shore when we drifted too far. The food at the end was excellent and conveniently located right off the shore where our boat was anchored.
One of the standout experiences of our Alaska trip was this tour. The scenery was stunning, and our guides, Sophie and Annie, were exceptionally friendly and well-informed. We appreciated having bathrooms available onsite, and the pickup from the ferry port was convenient. We spotted many bald eagles and enjoyed the tranquility of being the only ones on the lake. This tour comes highly recommended.
We enjoyed a wonderful morning on the lake with Joe. It was a sunny day, and with just my wife and I present, Joe focused all his attention on us. He addressed our questions and shared insights we hadn’t anticipated, while everything was impeccably organized. Joe allowed us to dictate the pace as we paddled and took the time to connect with us, establishing a great atmosphere throughout. After our outing, he had a fantastic selection of snacks ready and even provided a mini tour during our return to the ferry. We couldn't have asked for a better experience.
My wife and I enjoyed an incredible kayaking adventure on Chilkoot Lake. With clear skies and calm waters, it felt enchanting to have the whole lake to ourselves. Our guide, Joe, was excellent—friendly, insightful, and enthusiastic about the region. His knowledge enhanced the experience significantly. We strongly recommend SEAK Expeditions for outdoor activities in Alaska.
