Joe, the owner of Rainbow Glacier Adventures, was incredibly helpful and informative, offering great insights about Haines, Alaska prior to our arrival and assisting us in choosing our excursion. Our guide Garrett was excellent, with extensive knowledge of wildlife and plants, which greatly enhanced our experience. While we didn’t see any bears—something beyond our guide's control—we did encounter many beautiful eagles.
The tour was well organized, and our guide was very knowledgeable, offering plenty of context about the sights, including the area's history. She skillfully set up a powerful telescope to spot mountain goats and eagles. Although she informed us that we were too early to see salmon and bears, which was disappointing, the scenery and other sights we experienced were still quite captivating.
The commentary on the wildlife was outstanding. Although we didn’t see any bears, everything else was top-notch. We would absolutely participate again.
July 2nd seems to be too early for this tour. The salmon were absent, which meant there were no bears or the usual abundance of bald eagles that feed on them. Although our guide Garret was friendly and knowledgeable, the content was limited given the circumstances. Three and a half hours felt excessive for the situation. We did spot one bald eagle near the shore and a couple of distant figures in a tree that might have been eagles, but it's hard to say for sure. This "wilderness and wildlife" tour shouldn't be available unless the salmon are present. We kept hearing that it would improve in a few weeks, so it would be better to offer the tour then.
Mikey served as a fantastic guide, sharing captivating stories and providing insightful information about the region. We appreciated his expertise on iPhones and digital cameras, especially his tips for shooting in less than ideal weather conditions.
Karla provided an excellent day filled with information despite the challenging weather. I really enjoyed the art gallery and the Hammer Museum. Thank you, Karla, for your hard work!
Our afternoon tour with Anna was outstanding. Her passion and knowledge about the area truly shone through. It felt as though a friend was guiding us to her favorite spots while weaving in a rich blend of history and personal anecdotes.
The guide was punctual and friendly, providing plenty of knowledge. We were able to see everything we hoped for, including a mother bear with her four cubs feeding on salmon, bald eagles, seals, and spawning salmon. It was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend it.
Catherine served as a fantastic guide, bringing enthusiasm and expertise to the experience. We observed a bear with her four cubs and spent plenty of time watching them, alongside spotting another bear downstream and bald eagles. The insights we gained about the vital role of salmon in this ecosystem were remarkable. Traveling in a small group from the cruise ship allowed us to enjoy a lovely picnic location in the tranquil setting of Haines. I highly recommend this experience.
Having Jeanette as our guide was a true delight. She is remarkable and took us to see numerous eagles and a bear family with a mother and her four cubs. We couldn't have hoped for a better experience.
