The British renamed it after a rock resembling an elephant located near the falls, which was destroyed in an earthquake in 1897. • The Don Bosco Museum, or Center for Indigenous Cultures (DBCIC), is an initiative by the Silesians of Don Bosco aimed at preserving and conserving the tribal cultures, habitats, crafts, art, artifacts, and music of Northeast India. • Locally referred to as Nan-Polok, this artificial lake features gardens and boating opportunities. It was named after Sir William Ward, the Chief Commissioner of Assam, who initiated the lake's creation. • Lady Hydari Park, named after the area's first lady and the wife of Assam's first Governor during British rule, is one of the city's best-maintained parks, along with Ward’s Lake.
