Reviews
The boat trip was enjoyable, allowing us to see various islands up close, and we spotted several puffins near the back of Herm. The staff were helpful, and there was ample space on the boat for the best views. The only downside was that it felt a bit pricey for what we experienced, but overall, it was a good trip.
The evening we went was delightful with calm seas and a gentle breeze. The boat navigated through exciting narrow channels southeast of Herm, making its way to Puffin Bay, and we spotted puffins amidst the rocks. While the puffins on the water were easy to see, those on land were harder to spot due to the sun's glare. We then headed north to a beautiful sandy beach that rivaled those of the Scilly Isles. Unfortunately, instead of completing the circuit, we turned back via the southern route of Jethou. I would have loved to continue around and explore the harbor and anchorage on the island's western side to learn more about it. A display showing the chart plotter output would enhance the experience, allowing guests to appreciate the captain's navigation through the reefs.
We experienced the Herm & Jethou Island cruise, also referred to as the Puffin Explorer, and it was wonderful. The weather was lovely—warm and sunny—with calm seas. Les and Dale took great care of us aboard the beautiful wooden vessel, “Glad Tidings.” While sailing around the back of Herm, we enjoyed watching numerous Puffins in the water, and the boat got quite close several times. Although we didn’t spot any dolphins or seals, the trip was still amazing and comes highly recommended.
This was a wonderful experience that I would highly recommend for its great value. We spotted many puffins in the water, which was something we had always wanted to see.
We thoroughly enjoyed our boat trip with breathtaking views and plenty of puffins spotted near Herm. The crew was friendly, and we plan to go again next year. The only minor issue was that we sat on the side by the wheelhouse and couldn’t hear the commentary, but it didn’t ruin our experience.
In August, they cancelled our trips just hours before departure, and this occurred twice. The reasons weren't sea conditions; the first was due to staff illness and the second to operational issues. I'm still waiting for my £100 refund for the two cancelled outings. It's unwise to rely on them during peak season.
We were extremely let down when the trip was canceled without any prior notice. We waited for a long time, and it was only when another person informed us that we learned the trip wasn't happening. The customer service was very lacking.
My cruise was unfortunately cancelled for operational reasons, and while I get that these things happen, I'm extremely frustrated trying to secure my refund. I've been unable to reach anyone by phone, and my emails remain unanswered. It should be the operator’s responsibility to manage refunds for cancelled cruises, not the customer’s. Now I’m left with no choice but to go through my bank, which is just a hassle.
An outstanding experience observing Puffins and visiting Herm. Highly recommend this trip.
Our tour was cancelled due to insufficient participants, which we understand, but we are seeking a refund for our payment. We’ve tried to contact the company without success; there seems to be no physical office at the port, and the provided phone number is not working, nor are we receiving any responses to our emails.
