We highly recommend this excursion; it was such a peaceful experience to take the boat trip while observing various birds and wildlife. The journey through the mangroves was wonderful, along with monkey sightings. It was a memorable day, although the stop at the cacao farm could have been longer. Our tour guide made it truly unforgettable!
The guide was excellent, but the overall experience fell short. We didn't spot the howling monkeys, and the cocoa plantation looked nothing like the photos we saw; it was definitely a different place. While it had its interesting moments, I wouldn't suggest it as a full-day tour.
The boat ride through the mangroves was enjoyable, with a fantastic view of the diverse birdlife and vibrant shades of green. Keep in mind it's a small motorboat, similar to a panga rather than a kayak. The cacao farm tour was absolutely fantastic and a must-do; I gained a lot of knowledge and enjoyed many delicious samples. Lunch was nice as well, but remember that Ecuadorians typically have lunch later than Americans. Our guide was knowledgeable and made for great company.
The experience was truly incredible. I had a private tour with just the guide, Jaime, who was fantastic and displayed extensive knowledge about Guayaquil. With only one day in mainland Ecuador, this was the perfect way to spend my time.

This excursion from Guayaquil was excellent. Our guide was very professional and we enjoyed a diverse experience that included a river boat cruise, howler monkeys, numerous bird species, and a trip to an artisan cocoa farm.
