Ben was an exceptional guide who provided thorough answers to all my inquiries and shared additional fascinating insights. In just two hours, I was able to see the highlights of the park while having a great time.
This was our third hiking experience with "A Walk in the Woods." Our first two were four years ago with three young teens, and we had a fantastic time learning together. Now, we returned with senior citizens, aiming to show them as much of the park as possible while ensuring their safety. This was an excellent decision.
The hiking experience offered stunning views that felt truly rejuvenating. Our guide was not only informative but also enjoyable to be around. I'm definitely planning to return with my children in the future.
The Great Smoky Mountains are an essential destination to experience at least once in your life. Their stunning beauty and rich history showcase the greatness of the United States.
We had an amazing experience in the Smokies, with the clouds beneath us at the summit. Our driver, China, was exceptional; her knowledge and willingness to go above and beyond made the trip memorable.
Our initial tour had to be canceled due to icy road closures, but we were informed promptly and offered a fantastic alternative guided hike. Our guide, Luci, was incredibly friendly, providing numerous fascinating facts and historical insights while easing our worries about bear encounters. We strongly recommend this tour for first-time visitors or anyone who prefers to relax and let an expert handle the planning and driving to fully appreciate the sights.
I feel fortunate to have toured Great Smoky Mountain Park with our guide Luci, a charming and knowledgeable former teacher. She provided a wealth of information about the history and plant life, sharing her favorite viewpoints along the way. We took breaks to enjoy the stunning scenery and capture great photos. Although we didn't see any wildlife—perhaps an early or late visit would help with that—my experience reminded me of the fjords of Norway with its impressive mountains. As we brought our dog along, this tour suited us perfectly. I'm not a hiker, but I noticed many people starting their treks, which must be tough in the summer heat! Luckily, our weather was ideal, making for a memorable day. Thanks to Luci and the National Park Service for preserving this beautiful destination for everyone.
The experience was incredibly efficient and considerate. As two senior women, we received excellent care and respect from our guide, Mike. He provided a wealth of information and history about the Smoky Mountains, and he was very friendly and engaging.
The main road to Newfound Gap was closed the night before, and the tour guide didn't let us know until we arrived at the meeting point. This was particularly disappointing as my family had come from Europe. One hour was spent discussing cabins and woods, which could have been covered while driving. We had to ask the guide multiple times to stop at viewpoints, as a third of the tour focused on cabin construction instead of what we came to see. Although the tour was supposed to last three hours, the guide began heading back after two, thinking we booked a two-hour tour. It felt misleading to pay for a three-hour experience and only spend a portion of it on what the guide discussed. When we spotted a bear, the guide didn’t slow down for everyone to enjoy the moment, despite the group's excitement. Overall, we were let down by the experience given the cost. I felt it was unfair to not inform us about the road closure, which would have allowed us to decide whether to continue with the tour. I have had good experiences with other tours but this one was the worst. We did like the sites we saw, but I don't think it was worth the price paid. I appreciate the partial refund offered after several communications. It's crucial for future travelers to know about the road closure to make informed choices, with the estimated reopening in October. There is another longer route available for those who want to visit on their own.
Luci was fantastic. This experience is definitely a must-try. She was both very friendly and informative. I would absolutely do this again. Thank you very much.
