Our family truly enjoyed our time with A Walk in the Woods. The guide was very knowledgeable and customized the experience to match our interests and skill levels. It’s a win when both a middle-aged mom and a hard-to-please 15-year-old have a great day. Highly recommend!
I had a remarkable experience on a 4-day, 3-night backpacking excursion in the Smoky Mountains with A Walk in the Woods. From beginning to end, I felt completely supported. The entire experience was smooth, professional, and unforgettable. Our guide, China, was outstanding—knowledgeable, patient, and a skilled storyteller who animated the forest with intriguing tales of history, ecology, and humor. Her gentle demeanor made our journey feel both thrilling and enriching. The office team was also excellent—professional and attentive. Every aspect seemed carefully planned and expertly carried out. For those seeking a meaningful and well-organized adventure, I highly recommend A Walk in the Woods.
Everything was excellently executed. China and Sam managed to satisfy a group of 19 experienced travelers. They were knowledgeable, provided a moderate hike, and the duration was just right. Everyone had a great time with the guides. The only drawback was a lack of additional water.
We enjoyed a river snorkeling tour that included a walk in the woods. Kels was our guide, and she was incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. She managed our large group of three families exceptionally well, ensuring everyone's safety while making sure we all learned a lot and had a great time. Excellent work!
We enjoyed an excellent day. Mike's extensive knowledge of the history truly enhanced our experience. We strongly recommend this company for anyone looking for a great tour.
Sam, our guide, was excellent and very informative, providing an amazing tour. Patricia, who handled our reservations, did a wonderful job accommodating us on short notice. I highly recommend this tour company.
Our family had an incredible time with A Walk in the Woods. Although our Spring Break glamping trip began with unexpected cold weather, including snow and temperatures in the 20s, our guide Mike and the team, including China and Andy, ensured we had a fantastic experience. Vesna, one of the owners, even visited us in the freezing weather to guarantee we could have a hot shower and a warm meal. We were impressed by the personalized planning and attention to detail regarding our hikes and lunches. We cherished the four days spent in the mountains, enjoying nature, singing around the fire pit, and amusingly watching Mike get "bossed" around by our 5-year-old. This was our second experience with them, our first glamping adventure, and we are excited to return soon. Thank you for everything!
A Walk in the Woods tailored our tour perfectly to meet our preferences. Our guide, Kels, was incredibly knowledgeable and experienced, sharing insights about the formation of the Smoky Mountains and suggesting additional local attractions to explore after our tour. I'm excited to book more hikes and retreats with them.
The hike along the river in the Great Smoky Mountains was incredibly enjoyable and affordable. Our guide, Mike, shared a wealth of knowledge about local plants, survival strategies, and the history of the area. He captured many group photos for us. With plenty of humorous anecdotes, he also led us to Huskey Waterfall, which was a new experience for me. It was a fantastic day outdoors. I highly recommend A Walk in the Woods guides, particularly Mike, to anyone traveling to Gatlinburg, TN.
We arranged a private guide to explore the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and Mike excelled in his role. His extensive knowledge of the park and its wildlife greatly enhanced our experience. Having him drive us around while sharing insights about the area and its history was fantastic. We explored various locations, including Cades Cove, Middle Prong Trail, and Abrams Falls, hiking a total of 6 miles, which was just right for us. Thanks to Mike, we discovered and learned about things that many miss, and I was thrilled to see the promised 6 bears. I highly recommend this company. Get out on the trails!
