The tour to the northern islands with DOWN CATAMARAN from Grand Baye was disappointing. The boat was overcrowded, there was insufficient shade, and many passengers felt unwell from the sun exposure. The drinks were cold, but the lunch was unappetizing. The crew was unhelpful and often rude; when asked for anti-nausea pills or lemon, the response was always no. Attempts to arrange earlier pickups or medical assistance were also met with refusals. Best wishes.
The location is stunning, truly heavenly. However, the crew's welcome left much to be desired. We set sail in rough seas with waves over 2 meters high, which made me feel quite unsafe. Several passengers were sick during the trip. We anticipated a lively outing, but it felt like we were just there because we had paid for it. The crew appeared to be more focused on their own enjoyment than on their guests, only engaging with us at the end when they brought out a tip box — and it’s no surprise that no one contributed. The meal was served without any explanation of what we were eating, and it was cold. I had higher expectations given the price I paid.
It was a wonderful day, and I highly recommend it. With just 9 people on the catamaran, the small group made for a pleasant experience. We enjoyed a delicious lunch and had plenty of drinks, including wine, beer, soft drinks, and rum. Our two skippers were fantastic—very accommodating—and the snorkeling gear along with the boat was clean and in great condition. Overall, it was a lot of fun.
The wind conditions prevented us from visiting the advertised islands, but we were only informed of this after setting off, leaving no chance to opt out. Most of the time, we were anchored in a bay that was just a 5-minute walk from my accommodation. Overall, this tour is highly overpriced.
Everything was perfect. The team was exceptional. We visited Gabriel Island, where we saw a variety of colorful and uniquely shaped fish. The food on the catamaran was delicious. Before returning to the port, Yannick entertained us with great music and dance. It was a wonderful experience.
The coastal trip was fantastic, although the part with boats chasing dolphins was not as enjoyable. Besides that, I had a great time diving. The food was excellent, and the crew were very friendly, just like all Mauritians.
I was thoroughly let down, as the experience did not match the brochure's description. For a steep price, we found ourselves not discovering much at all.
