We had a fantastic experience with my 2-year-old toddler. You’re allowed to bring your own snacks or purchase some from the cart.
The ride was enjoyable, with stunning scenery. The train was clean, comfortable, and punctual, and the staff were friendly and helpful. However, I wished for a longer journey. While the historical narration was nice, its low volume made it difficult to hear. Overall, it was a good experience, but I felt a bit unsatisfied.
The train itself is beautiful, but the tour offers very little in terms of sights. You travel one way for roughly 35 minutes before reversing the same route, resulting in seeing the same unremarkable view twice. The excitement in our car came from spotting two deer and a stuck truck, rather than any historical landmarks—just woods and the back of a school. Since the experience is fairly new, there may be room for improvement, but I wouldn't recommend it to friends at this point. The attendant was friendly and engaged us with trivia to pass the time, yet the $4 charge for a small half-filled black coffee seemed excessive.
Tickets are easily obtainable, and the railcars are immaculate with comfortable seating. The audio narration is informative about the sights along the way. Overall, the experience is serene, peaceful, and thought-provoking.
This excursion was disappointing and I can't recommend it. On the plus side, the cars were clean, the seats spacious and comfortable, and there were small tables. A concession car offered snacks like pretzels and popcorn. The guide was friendly and shared some historical facts. However, the train ride lacked any scenic views, passing mostly through trees, housing developments, and business areas rather than anything truly historical or picturesque. The narration was lackluster and often hard to hear due to loud conversations from other passengers. The slow pace made the experience rather tedious, as it simply returned to the starting point after about 35 minutes. Overall, it felt unremarkable.
I had a wonderful experience; the booking process was simple, the train was stunning, and the ride was both relaxing and educational. The popcorn was delicious as well. I highly recommend it.
The operation is managed exceptionally well. The refurbished cars from Ringling’s Circus Train are truly stunning. This is a must for any railfan.
Those hoping to see a lot of the battlefield may find themselves let down, as the train only traverses a small section of it. The majority of the views consist of woods, farmland, and contemporary homes. However, the train offers a charming experience, providing a pleasant 90-minute opportunity to relax and enjoy the scenery. In the summer, it likely serves as a nice escape from the afternoon heat.
A pleasant and relaxing journey through the region, definitely worth the visit.
The train car offered a relaxing and comfortable experience. I gained a lot of knowledge about the area's history. I would definitely recommend it.
