I had a fantastic experience on this tour. The crew was both professional and knowledgeable. We spotted penguins, seals, a Bryde whale, and numerous birds. The scenery was stunning, the seating was comfortable, and we were lucky with calm seas. While seeing wildlife isn't guaranteed, we felt fortunate to have had such great sightings.
The two-hour excursion to observe seals, and possibly other marine creatures, felt overpriced to me. The staff appeared unenthusiastic and were not very engaging. I believe there are alternative options available that offer similar experiences for significantly less money. I wouldn't choose this again.
The trip was wonderful today, with a thorough safety briefing, although not all guests paid attention. From the beginning, we were informed that we might only see birds and seals, which turned out to be true. I booked an afternoon tour with Ivanhoe, but it got postponed multiple times, and ultimately, we had to settle for an early morning outing, which my 6-year-old wasn't excited about, despite her love for whales. While boarding, I overheard a crew member mention they had gone out the previous day, which felt frustrating after being canceled on twice. The tour was disappointing; we spent the first 1.25 hours watching seals and dolphins, which were abundant, leaving no time to search for whales. There were no whales at all.
It's definitely overpriced. While boat trips can be unpredictable in what you might see, for a 1.5-hour tour at this price, there are better options available.
During the early weeks of the whale watching season, our dedicated Captain and crew ensured we experienced some great sightings. We were fortunate enough to see both Bright and Right Whales.
