This fishing experience was excellent. We opted for a pickup from our Casco Viejo hotel, which made for a comfortable 45-minute drive to Gamboa, where we met Rene, our guide for this private fishing adventure. His quick, well-equipped boat provided cover and he took us straight to the best spots in Gatun Lake. We quickly caught several bass and even an Oscar, practicing catch and release. Rene was patient and an exceptional guide. On our return, he also showed us a spot to see some monkeys. Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable outing that I would love to experience again. Rene even shared high-quality photos and a video from our trip. I highly recommend him and this fishing tour.
We had an excellent day with Rene. His expertise as a fisherman was evident through the superior quality of his rods, reels, and plugs. I had my fly tackle and found a 7 weight rod with a 15’ intermediate tip perfect for our outing. The variety of clousers and other mangrove/peacock patterns were great. After a long day, we took Rene's advice and enjoyed a late lunch in Panama City, where the food was exceptional. I highly recommend the Chinese Seafood Restaurant if you get the chance.
Captain Rene made our fishing trip truly outstanding. We embarked on a 5.5-hour journey early in the day where we not only caught several fish but also spotted monkeys, birds, and iguanas. His excellent English made communication easy. Being in the canal near the ships was an impressive experience.
Finding the location was straightforward, and communication with the team was excellent. We explored multiple spots around Gatineau Lake and had a successful fishing experience, catching plenty of fish.
We had heard wonderful things about fishing with Rene, and everything we heard was spot on. Our morning was a blend of Panama's stunning wildlife and fantastic fishing. We caught Peacock Bass, an Orange Oscar, and a 9.5-pound snook while navigating seemingly pristine wilderness along the Panama Canal, observing monkeys, iguanas, an alligator, and even a capybara. Rene served as an excellent guide, storyteller, and host. It's clear why he has so many five-star ratings; now he can add another to his list. This is definitely a trip worth booking.
We thoroughly enjoyed our fishing trip with Captain Carlos. He ensured we were always catching fish and took photos of our haul. As a first-time angler, my friend appreciated his patient guidance, and she ended up with the biggest catch of the day. We highly recommend this experience and look forward to fishing with Fishing Panama again.

We truly enjoyed our experience. We aimed for various species and succeeded each time. Rene was an excellent guide and host, knowledgeable and always friendly. He allowed us to choose our targets, and the fishing gear was top-notch. Transportation was well organized, providing excellent service for a fair price.
This experience was nothing short of amazing from beginning to end. Our guide was very knowledgeable and personable, making the whole journey both seamless and thrilling. We had the chance to try various fishing techniques, which kept us engaged throughout the trip. We were able to catch both peacock bass and snook. What truly made this adventure stand out was the stunning environment. We took a side trip where we encountered monkeys, toucans, and crocodiles up close. Fishing while hearing the calls of howler monkeys and the sounds of toucans was surreal, as if we were part of a nature documentary. This was undoubtedly one of the best parts of my time in Panama. I highly recommend this experience to everyone, whether you are seasoned in fishing or just seeking something memorable. I would certainly love to do it again.
Carlos and Roberto were fantastic and friendly. We had a successful day catching numerous peacock bass, and to top it off, I reeled in a huge snook. This was the best fishing trip I’ve ever experienced.
