Luis Paz was a fantastic guide with in-depth knowledge of the birds. He even managed to call in some species I wanted to see. I highly recommend this tour; we spotted 82 different species in just 4 hours.
Our day birding from the capital was a disappointment, costing over $200 for two. We had booked late due to peak season, but our guide Rafael was inadequate. We paid upfront without knowing who the guide would be, and he showed up without binoculars, which is ridiculous in the rainforest. He struggled to find anything beyond a few large birds and often spent his time on his phone. While he occasionally identified something correctly, he sometimes questioned our accurate IDs. For instance, he mistook the lineated woodpecker for a ringed kingfisher. His lack of binoculars made it challenging. We received little apology or compensation for our bad experience and canceled our other scheduled day. If you're a serious birder, I recommend confirming your guide beforehand. We had a fantastic experience with Mario Ocana, a freelance guide, on other days—he was knowledgeable and made our trip memorable. This particular day unfortunately tarnished our overall experience.

As a solo female traveler, I had a fantastic experience with Natalia as my guide. She was knowledgeable about bird songs and could mimic them perfectly, helping me spot incredible birds that I would have missed on my own. Other birdwatchers were curious about how I found her as a guide. It was a wonderful experience, and I added numerous lifers to my list.
The driver was punctual and very respectful. We encountered a variety of unique birds, and the hummingbird experience was incredible, seeing at least five different species in their natural habitat. I captured some amazing photographs. Although there was a slight language barrier with our guide, Natalia, her extensive knowledge of the birds, their calls, and habits was impressive. I highly recommend this tour and would gladly do it again if I return to Panama.
