Grapetown features the only winery in Fredericksburg where you can meet giraffes, along with a variety of other animals like lemurs, zebras, and kangaroos. The tour includes a relaxing tram ride across 85 acres of picturesque Texas Hill Country, providing ample opportunities to take photos and engage with the animals.

Fredericksburg is undoubtedly the least welcoming town for visitors. The locals were quite rude towards us because our vehicle had an out-of-state license plate. I will certainly not return to this area to spend my money. I suggest steering clear of this location entirely. If this reflects the attitude of all Texans, then I have no interest in Texas.
Enjoyable couple of hours spent feeding farm animals and tasting wine. The staff was impressive, and it was a short drive from Fredericksburg, with giraffes and monkeys added to the experience.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Grapetown Vineyards, which greatly surpassed what we anticipated. The wine and live music were excellent, and the animals were wonderfully interactive. Geoffrey the giraffe was impressive, but the cows became the real stars during our safari. Additionally, the staff was incredible; their kindness truly embodied "southern hospitality." We are eager to return!
The experience was wonderful! The staff was friendly and the location was stunning. We thoroughly enjoyed it. There are various animals to see, some of which you can feed. Just a heads-up: the check-in at Bankersmith is separate from the actual tour spot, so you need to drive a bit further.
This tour features a private collection of animals, including some not typically found in Texas. You get the chance to feed some of them up close. The day was rainy, resulting in muddy conditions. The guide was knowledgeable despite having only practical training in animal care. While the animals appeared domesticated, they seemed to have adequate space to roam. It wasn’t clear if conservation was a focus here, as it felt more like a hobbyist's collection. The wine tasting experience was mediocre; we were the only participants. The same guide informed us about each wine, but it felt rushed as they were likely preparing to close up for the day. We did not stay long.
Fantastic location with a wonderful atmosphere and excellent hospitality. I would return in an instant. The team was very accommodating, and the animal experience was the highlight. One suggestion would be to offer small prepackaged snack plates or charcuterie.
