We took part in the Franschhoek Wine Wander on a scorching summer day, yet the lovely 4 km walk was easy enough for nearly anyone to enjoy. Matt kept us engaged with his wealth of interesting facts and humorous stories, demonstrating his passion for the experience. The breathtaking scenery, with majestic mountains and charming vineyards and gardens at Leeu, made it truly special. The food and wine were exceptional, particularly the harvest table lunch at the conclusion. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour and would love to participate again.
This was an excellent experience. Matt kept us informed before we left the UK, and the starting point was easy to locate. He arrived on time and was very welcoming. It was clear he is passionate about his work, which made the experience enjoyable. We joined the tour for the scenery, the walk, and the information, and we were not disappointed at all. Even as a non-drinker, I found the tour wonderful; the views were breathtaking, and Matt provided insightful and well-presented information about the area. He genuinely wants everyone to enjoy the tour. If you plan to partake in the wine as well, I heard other guests at various wineries and I'm confident you won't be let down. Each stop included snacks, and the lunch at the end was fantastic, wrapping up an interesting and engaging walk. The pace was comfortable, led by Matt, who seems to be a wonderful guy invested in ensuring a great experience. We found it far better than self-driving or taking the wine tram or bus.
I heard about Matt's wine walk from a friend and was thrilled to have followed her recommendation while entertaining visiting friends from the U.S. As an educator, I value a good narrative, and Matt delivered with his wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm. His stories were humorous, insightful, and deeply informative about South Africa and key figures in the history of Franschhoek. Matt is an excellent storyteller who is highly responsive and ensures a delightful and unforgettable experience for his guests. Booking a tour with him is a decision you won't regret.
This was truly one of the finest curated experiences I've encountered. Matthew has created a wonderful short tour through the Franschhoek winelands, highlighting remarkable wineries while connecting them to the "dreamers" who have shaped the area. It was a delightful journey with an engaging guide, culminating in a fantastic meal at La Cotte. I highly recommend this experience to both locals and visitors, and I would gladly join again.
This experience was fantastic, featuring beautiful views, intriguing stories, and plenty of fascinating history. Mr. Matt was an outstanding guide, providing valuable insights. The excellent lunch afterwards was the perfect conclusion to a wonderful day.
The tour with Matt was extraordinary. I gained a lot of knowledge about my town. Matt is a fantastic guide. I would definitely recommend this experience.
I participated in the Franschhoek Wine Walk on May 6, 2025, with colleagues from the tourism sector. Matt was an excellent guide, skillfully weaving together the history and narratives of the people, wine, and food of the Franschhoek valley. Although I've been to Franschhoek multiple times, I’ve never seen it from this distinct viewpoint. This tour is essential when exploring the stunning Franschhoek valley. Great job, Matt!
This was the best wine walk I've experienced so far, thanks to the wonderful hosts and knowledgeable guides, Cedric, Michelle, and Matthew. Starting at the old church was captivating, and the stunning views, paired with great company and engaging conversations, made it even better. Matthew and Michelle took excellent care of us. As summer approaches, Franschhoek tours will surely grow in popularity, but this walk is perfect for winter too. The walking distances were fair, allowing us to fully enjoy each vineyard at a relaxed pace without feeling rushed. Lunch at my favorite spot, La Cotte Farm, was amazing. This experience is suitable for both locals and international travelers, making it accessible for everyone. Overall, the day felt like a fairytale with fantastic people, beautiful surroundings, and exceptional wines. While I left a bit tipsy, it seemed fitting in the winelands where happy guests are encouraged. A heartfelt thank you to the team for creating such unforgettable memories. I highly recommend this remarkable experience for all ages, providing 5-star service throughout. Much appreciation is deserved!
This was a delightful way to explore and savor Franschhoek. I highly recommend this experience. We began at 9 am with a brief historical walk around town, then traveled up the street to the base of the mountains where we visited three wineries and sampled various wines. After a short tuk-tuk ride, we enjoyed lunch at a beautiful vineyard before making our way back. The entire experience lasted around six hours, but it felt like no time at all, and we gained a wealth of knowledge about South African wine and food in the area. I would rate it a perfect 10!
Our wine walk with Cedric was fantastic; he shared insightful details about the local history. The trek was manageable, with plenty of breaks for tastings and lunch. Although the wine tram was enjoyable, the walk offered a richer experience. If possible, I suggest doing both.
