Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve

Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve is a vast wetland ecosystem covering over 3,500 acres, showcasing a unique blend of cypress swamps, pine forests, and marshes that support diverse wildlife. Established in the 1990s, the preserve features a 1.2-mile boardwalk and various trails that allow visitors to walk through this serene natural habitat. Plan for at least two hours to explore the trails and observe the local fauna, including alligators and numerous bird species. Autumn and spring are ideal for visits, as temperatures are mild and wildlife activity peaks. The preserve isn’t far from Fort Myers’ downtown area.
