“It was incredible! There was much more history to explore than at Versailles, with more rooms accessible for viewing, and it felt like we had it mostly to ourselves. Michelle was fantastic. I highly suggest this for anyone wanting a unique experience in Paris.”— Douglas_E
05Day trip from Paris — explore Fontainebleau Castle’s gardens, visit Provins, a UNESCO site, with guided commentary and hotel pickup included.
“The castle is a breathtaking historical site, located about an hour's drive from Paris. Our guide picked us up at 1 PM, and we returned by 6 PM, sharing fascinating details about the castle's history and other excursions that could match our interests. Fontainebleau is a magnificent castle with thousands of years of history and diverse architectural styles. Initially built during the reign of Philip I (1060-1108), it served as residence for kings and dignitaries until Napoleon III in 1870. Its beauty and gardens can compete with Versailles, yet it lacks the overwhelming crowds. On our visit in January, we found many areas of the castle nearly empty, with hardly 100 tourists present. The gardens were closed due to the cold weather but were still visible from above. One could easily spend several days enjoying the elegance and historical richness of the palace, exploring the vast gardens and nearby forests. If Fontainebleau isn't already on your Paris must-see list, you should definitely add it. I would love to return on a warmer day to explore the gardens. The fewer crowds made it comfortable to take our time without feeling hurried. Various activities on the grounds, such as hot air ballooning and horseback riding, add to the experience. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to check out the nearby town. There is a cafe and restroom facilities on site, with the town right next door providing more dining options. Treat yourself to this beautiful historic museum.”— CANDACE_L
06Two hours on foot — a theatrical exploration of Fontainebleau’s forest, featuring legends, ghosts, and mythical creatures at iconic sites like Georgine's Cave.
“The tour of the Forest of Fontainebleau was truly remarkable. This forest is brimming with hidden gems, and our guide, known as “the Grand Veneur,” brought a mysterious yet humorous touch, clearly having a strong connection with the trees and wolves. Our family thoroughly enjoyed this adventure, enhancing our experience in the forest greatly. Big thanks to Jonathan!”— patricelR8969UL
07Three hours of adventure, including a one-hour flight over Fontainebleau Forest and the Château, with a traditional toast upon landing.
“I had a truly enjoyable and memorable experience. The pilot, Jean-Phillipe, was knowledgeable and helpful, even aiding me in returning to the train station. The ground service gentleman was also informative and supportive. I would definitely consider using this company again for future balloon rides.”— kmitch442
08Two hours inside the Château de Fontainebleau — a private guide shows you the grand apartments and the ballroom, including Napoleon's bedroom.
“We had an excellent guide named Martine, who has over 25 years of experience leading tours. Martine was very knowledgeable, respectful, and engaging, sharing fascinating insights about the lives of kings, Emperor Napoleon, and others, all delivered with a great sense of humor.”— GeorgeIE_H
