Our guide, Tony, was exceptional; his passion for the experience was evident. He was highly knowledgeable, had a great attitude, and made the evening enjoyable, elevating it beyond an ordinary tour. They provided a fire, reindeer sausages, and a variety of hot and cold beverages while we awaited the lights. Incredibly, we witnessed a stunning 10/10 northern lights display. As my time in Alaska was ending, I still hadn't seen the Lights despite my efforts, and with the kp index at 2, hope seemed lost. However, the team assured me not to worry. Their communication was excellent, and they provided updates on their arrival at the hotel. After being picked up, we were on a mission. Our guide was both entertaining and informative during the journey. When we reached their lodge, complete with a campfire and hot drinks, it wasn't long before someone waved a wand and exclaimed, "Aloaurora!" which unleashed a stunning green display. This was a bucket-list moment, with our cameras capturing the beautiful scene. The lodge staff also helped with camera settings and maintained a welcoming camp atmosphere. I hope to experience this again, but if not, it was a fantastic opportunity that I documented well, with professional assistance in case my shots didn't turn out. I highly recommend this experience.
While we had a good experience on a partly cloudy night, there was a significant amount of driving involved to locate the lights when the skies were overcast. It's been over three weeks, and we are still awaiting our pictures via email.
