This was an incredible journey. Jeremy, our driver, provided extensive historical insights about Alaska and the Dalton Highway, and he navigated the roads excellently. This tour isn't meant for casual sightseers. The weather was just right. I strongly recommend this company.
It was a fantastic experience. Although the day was long, Paul was exceptional and made it truly memorable. There was so much to see and absorb.
The journey along the Dalton Highway to reach the Arctic Circle from Fairbanks is quite lengthy, covering around 800 miles round trip and lasting over 14-15 hours. There are several interesting stops along the way, including the pipeline and Camp River cafe. While the Arctic Circle only has a marker sign, it’s definitely a bucket list experience, and you receive certificates for your visit.
Our guide was highly knowledgeable about the areas we visited and their history. His excellent leadership contributed to a wonderful learning experience, complemented by the stunning scenery.
Our driver Jeremy was with us the entire day, from 6:30 am to 10:30 pm. We had several bathroom breaks, with the only proper stop for lunch and dinner at a restaurant by the Yukon River. The tundra stop near Finger Mountain was breathtaking, especially with the vibrant late summer colors. We also made two stops at the Trans Alaska pipeline. When we arrived at the Arctic Circle sign, we had a small picnic and noticed there were two outhouses only 50 yards apart, one on each side of the sign. Jeremy was not only friendly but also very knowledgeable. Despite the challenging road conditions on Halton Hwy, he ensured we felt secure throughout the journey. We also received documentation that confirmed our visit to the Arctic Circle. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I’m pleased to have crossed this item off my bucket list.
The tour was excellent, and the guide did a fantastic job leading our group. Everything went according to plan, and it was exactly as the company promised.
The entire journey from the booking process to witnessing the Arctic Circle was excellently executed. Booking online was straightforward, and we even got a confirmation call the day before to confirm our meeting time and location. Following the suggested arrival time, we set off in a comfortable van headed north. Our guide, David, was informative and shared wonderful stories. The lunch and dinner at the Yukon River Camp were quite enjoyable. It's a lengthy day, but completely worthwhile.
The weather in Alaska is unpredictable, and our tour experienced rain, making the roads muddy. The bus was about half full, but the stops along the highway showcased stunning, colorful terrain and the pipeline, even in the rain. The camp by the Yukon River offered a warm atmosphere and delicious food. Dave, our guide, delivered an engaging narrative filled with historical insights. I was informed about rotating seats during the tour, but that option didn't occur, which was disappointing as I would have loved one of the four front row seats. Everyone paid the same amount, after all. Despite this, I tipped generously. It’s important to plan ahead as these guides work very hard. Thank you for this great experience.
The journey was truly worth it for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. The guide and driver were exceptional throughout the trip. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for an adventure.
Rating this experience was challenging. Our guide, Sabrina, showed remarkable professionalism in harsh conditions, successfully taking us to the Arctic Circle and back. It was a bucket list adventure during my September visit to Fairbanks. We began the tour, aware that most restroom facilities, except at the Yukon River, were outhouses. We made a stop near Fairbanks to learn about the Trans Alaska Pipeline, with Sabrina sharing additional insights and later showing a construction video. Wildlife sightings are generally uncommon on this tour. The Dalton Highway, mostly gravel for its 389 miles, was particularly muddy due to recent weather, which even prompted road crews to scrape the muddy incline. Rain accompanied our journey, but all logistics went smoothly, with lunch and dinner at the Yukon River camp efficiently handled. Sadly, the weather obstructed views of the Yukon River and the Arctic Circle parking area. We almost had to turn back, just 10 miles from our destination, but ultimately pushed on. During the return, Sabrina needed to put chains on the rear wheels, navigating back on asphalt, though removing them became difficult in the mud. For a stretch of 10 to 12 minutes, we had to work hard to ascend an incline. This tour, which typically lasts 12 to 13 hours, took us 19 hours, from 6 AM Wednesday until 1 AM Thursday.
