Six hours of guided exploration in Erzurum — visit fortresses, a historic Ottoman home, Ulu Mosque, and enjoy dinner featuring local Cag Kebap.
This six-hour private guided tour covers key sites in Erzurum, starting with pickup from your hotel after breakfast. You'll visit the fortresses of Aziziye and Mecidiye, along with the Abdurrahman tomb and the intriguing "mystery road." The morning continues with a stop at the Three Tombs and an exploration of a 300-year-old Ottoman home before lunch, where you'll sample local dishes downtown.
Post-lunch, the tour includes visits to Ulu Mosque, the Twin Minaret Medressa, and Erzurum Castle, where you can enjoy views of the city from the clock tower. Tea is part of the itinerary at "The Erzurum Houses," an Ottoman-style restaurant and museum. The day wraps with a visit to a historic Caravan Saray used on the Silk Road, followed by dinner at a local restaurant, famous for its Cag Kebap before returning to your hotel.
Reviews
This tour was truly delightful. The city has a stunning winter charm, with mountains framing much of the experience. From the historic castle walls to the ancient mosques, everything was lovely, and the tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful with any history inquiries.
Touring Erzurum and learning about its history greatly enhanced our trip. Guides Vahit and Şeyma were wonderful companions, accommodating our preferences for activities, dining, and time spent at sites. I appreciated their extensive knowledge and patience with our numerous questions. Despite booking just two days in advance, Zach was exceptionally helpful in arranging our tour. The van was comfortable for our group of six adults and one three-year-old. Be sure to wear suitable walking shoes and dress for the weather, as we did, which made the experience enjoyable.
