Our guide was fantastic—very friendly, knowledgeable, and truly passionate about the region. I felt uncertain about a self-guided 8-hour tour, so I opted for a guide. She assessed our clothing, hiking experience, and the weather beforehand. We discovered that our attire wasn’t suitable for hiking to Lago de los Tres, as it was rainy and cloudy that day, which would have obscured Mount Fitz Roy. I appreciated her advice beforehand, which saved us from unnecessary effort on the toughest stretch. She devised an entirely different route for us, and it worked out wonderfully. My boyfriend was hiking for the first time, and she was incredibly patient, adapting to our pace. I highly recommend this experience.
The experience was wonderful; we followed a less trafficked route that led to a viewpoint with breathtaking scenery. Our guide Mica was excellent, imparting her knowledge throughout the journey.
An amazing adventure, we ascended the mountain on a route where we could view the Piedras Blancas glacier. At the summit, the sight of Fitz Roy against a clear blue sky left us in awe. On our return, we passed by Lake Capri, which offered a great view of the valley, and we even spotted a condor. Our guide, Lisandro, was attentive and shared his insights throughout the journey. It was truly a unique experience.
The trekking offers breathtaking landscapes suitable for all abilities and durations. The locals are incredibly friendly and supportive, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the mountains and a positive atmosphere.
The hike was wonderful, offering stunning views. We reached the summit after navigating through some snow, and the panoramic view of the entire area was incredible. My guide, Daniela, was outstanding and the best guide I've had to date. I appreciate the fantastic experience.
Juliette is an excellent guide. The hike was challenging but very rewarding. We had great weather, which made the experience even better.
This was an incredible excursion with stunning views and a relatively uncrowded trail. Gilda, our guide, was outstanding. The food was plentiful and delicious.
The total hike was just over 11 miles roundtrip, guided by Rocio, a fantastic local guide who adeptly managed the varied fitness levels in our group, from seasoned Swiss hikers to beginners like me. For those accustomed to lower altitudes, taking altitude medication is advisable. Dressing in layers is essential; we began the morning with strong 70mph winds and cooler temperatures. As the weather changed, it worked to our advantage as we shed layers since mountain weather is quite unpredictable. Thankfully, the day turned out to be sunny with a clear sky, making it easier to adjust. The tour company offered hiking poles for those who did not bring their own. Experiencing Patagonia was truly unforgettable, and I would happily do it again. I’m eager to explore more hiking options to see different landscapes in the region. A few key points to keep in mind: 1) Choose good waterproof hiking boots; they can really make a difference. I used fitted soles for arch support and packed extra socks in case they got wet from the conditions. 2) Glacier water is safe to refill your water bottle if you run low, according to the guide, but be aware it lacks essential minerals. I was cautious and saved my hydration for when I returned to Chalten, though I did sample the clean-tasting water; next time I plan to bring a filter. 3) Remember sunscreen and SPF clothing to protect yourself from the sun.
