If you're unprepared, I suggest doing the trek from the city view. We trekked 20km without being physically fit, which was both an incredible experience and challenging. The views were amazing, but we couldn't finish due to bad weather. I recommend spending 1 or 2 nights in the city to avoid missing the tour if you choose the route of the 3 lakes in Fitz Roy.
I booked a group tour, but it turned into a private experience, which couldn't have been better. Macarena, our knowledgeable and polite guide, made this demanding hike enjoyable despite my initial anxiety. Although the Laguna de los Tres was frozen and snow-covered, it showcased a different kind of beauty and offered numerous photo opportunities. I am grateful for this unique experience.
This is an exceptional and one-of-a-kind adventure. It requires a good level of fitness to complete 20 km and handle an altitude change of 800 meters. The payoff includes stunning landscapes and a knowledgeable guide who shares insights about the region and its history, making it a fantastic experience overall.
This trek is much more challenging than the typical hike. It demands significant physical fitness and endurance to reach the summit and return safely. While the total distance is advertised as 16 kilometers, my Apple Watch recorded a round trip of 28.57 kilometers (17.7 miles), which certainly took a toll on my legs. My wife struggled to complete it. The guide was supportive and did his best to maintain a steady pace for us. Additional information is necessary in the description to prevent misleading expectations about the trek's difficulty. Without this, participants risk serious injuries on the steep and rocky final climb, which lasts nearly an hour and can be dangerously windy. At the summit, the breathtaking view of the turquoise lake against Mt. Fitzroy is rewarding, but the strong winds are difficult to withstand. The rain comes in horizontally, hitting your face uncomfortably. One must endure harsh conditions to appreciate the scenery before navigating back down the treacherous terrain while clinging to stability against powerful gusts.
The hike was outstanding. Our guide did a fantastic job, and the views were truly breathtaking. It's important to wear suitable shoes and bring poles.
The tour was exceptionally well organized, featuring two guides for eleven participants. Both guides were well-prepared and very accommodating. Due to the challenging ascent to the Lagoon of the Three, we were able to choose whether to attempt that segment, allowing the group to split into two, each led by a guide.
We had an amazing hiking experience with Lucas. Although it was a challenging nearly 14-mile trek, the rewards were absolutely worth it. The breathtaking scenery was enhanced by Lucas's insights on paragliding and climbing, and we were fortunate to witness both on a perfect day. Starting at Río Eléctrico rather than the typical out-and-back route added a unique touch to the hike and kept it feeling fresh. Having Lucas as our guide was invaluable; he led us to quieter areas away from the crowds, allowing us to fully appreciate the stunning views we might have otherwise overlooked. If you’re physically capable, don’t think twice about booking this trek. It was worth every cent and more.
The surroundings were stunning and the view at the Laguna of Fitz was truly beautiful. However, our guide walked too quickly, often failing to check on the group’s pace or wait for the slower members. We frequently found ourselves speed walking to catch up. On the return trip, he overtook everyone he had passed previously, which felt unnecessary. Additionally, for a few single-file bridges, he would go ahead without ensuring everyone had crossed, leaving those further back significantly behind.
This was a fantastic experience. The guided tour showcased stunning natural landscapes, and everything went smoothly. I highly recommend it.
I experienced a fantastic hike, led by a guide who was incredibly kind and patient. The views were stunning and made every step worthwhile.
