Three hours of Patagonian lamb roast and Curanto al hoyo, plus scenic drive and suspension bridge walk.
This three-hour culinary experience highlights the essence of Patagonian rural life. Starting from El Chaltén, the journey includes a 12-kilometre drive along Route 41, also known as the Scenic Route of National Sovereignty, with picturesque views of the Rio de Las Vueltas. Guests will walk across a suspension bridge to meet a local guide.
After crossing, the adventure continues in a 4x4 vehicle to reach “EL ESTABLO” at Estancia Bonanza. Here, you’ll savour the exquisite tastes of lamb roasted over an open flame and try the traditional Curanto al hoyo, a unique local dish. Dress comfortably for the outdoor setting and be prepared to indulge in authentic Patagonian cuisine.

I was initially uncertain about this experience, but seeing others returning for a second night put my worries to rest. I highly recommend this while visiting El Chalten. It’s situated in a valley with stunning views of Mt Fitz Roy. The food is delicious, well-prepared, and the staff are exceptionally friendly. I would definitely return if time allowed.
The experience was great overall. We had an enjoyable day, appreciating the friendly staff and the beautiful nature. The lunch was excellent, and we even saw a newborn lamb and had the chance to milk a cow.
I booked a tour for 7:30 pm and arrived by 7:15, only to find out the shuttle had already departed because the actual start time was 7:00. While the staff offered an apology and a full refund, they failed to provide a satisfactory reason for the incorrect start time listed on the platform. They claimed to have "no control" over it, which seemed unreasonable. I did receive a WhatsApp message at 6:57 pm inquiring about my attendance, but due to unreliable cell service and Wi-Fi in El Chalten, I saw it too late. Three minutes' notice is simply insufficient. This company should not be allowed to use Viator until they can correctly input start times and meeting point details.
Our experience was fantastic. We met at 7 PM in El Chaltén and were surprised to find we were the only ones in the van to Estancia Bonanza. Later, we learned that many prefer horseback riding or other activities before dinner. We initially rode in one van to a bridge, then switched to another to reach the ranch. Once we arrived, we enjoyed the beautiful dining area, which soon filled with others wrapping up their excursions. The food was delicious, and we were entertained by a sheep herding demonstration. The restaurant offered stunning views. Highly recommended!
This excursion felt extremely overpriced and ended up being a waste of three hours. I questioned the authenticity of the writings on the walls and cannot recommend this trip. While the staff were pleasant and the pumpkin soup and dessert were decent, I found the lamb stew to be unappetizing.
