We departed from Diani with a local operator who picked us up from the hotel and took us to the Marine Park at Wasini Island. It was an exhilarating day, featuring a lovely snorkeling session on the coral reef, some relaxing time on a nearby islet, and a delicious lunch of fish and local dishes. On the return trip, we also spotted a family of dolphins, which was thrilling! The only downside was the long sailing time to and from the reef; overall, you spend approximately 6 to 7 hours for just an hour of snorkeling and beach time. Everything else was wonderful, and I would certainly do this again.
This excursion was the highlight of my time at Diani Beach. My day at Wasini Island, organized by Juma MBaruk Reje and his family, included snorkeling. They were wonderfully attentive guides. As a first-time snorkeler, I found it incredible. The trip is truly deserving of your time, and the food was fantastic. I felt a wave of emotion when it concluded and wished I could do it again.
I had an amazing day! If you're thinking about booking this tour, I strongly urge you to do it. The team at Coral Spirit, including Jay, was incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. They highlighted various fish, made sure we had enough drinks, and kept us comfortable all day long. The homemade lunch was delicious, and the whole experience was wonderfully organized. The waters were breathtaking, the boat ride was pleasant, and everyone was very welcoming. I can't recommend this tour enough! When I'm back in Diani, I'll certainly choose another Coral Spirit tour— the quality is truly outstanding. Thank you for a fantastic day!
A day trip to Wasini Island from Diani is essential for anyone passionate about marine life and snorkeling. It's the sole destination for dolphin tours in Diani, close to Kisite Mpunguni Marine Park. Enjoy lunch on Wasini Island to discover local cuisine and gain insight into the community's lifestyle.
The outing was enjoyable and the team was fantastic. One thing to note is that the guide spoke a different language than the French specified, but it didn't significantly affect the experience.
The trip to Wasini Island was fantastic, including a boat ride to the mainland. Encountering dolphins was truly an unforgettable experience. The locals we met were friendly as we strolled along the trails, enjoying lovely historical sights. A local Swahili lunch featuring a selection of seafood was the day's highlight.
We decided to book the Wasini trip with Kiko after he took us on a complimentary sea safari at the hotel beach. That hour was enjoyable and led us to trust him for our excursions. People might be wary of beach vendors, but our experiences have been consistently positive. We also arranged a trip to Mombasa during our second week, and both times the transportation and guides were exceptional. We departed at 7:30 am for the hour-long drive and soon met the crew aboard the boat. Though we started our journey under cloudy skies, we were quickly warming in the sun while taking in the stunning views of the mangroves and coastlines. Once we arrived at the small island for snorkeling, the crew equipped us with masks and fins, providing a guided tour to witness the vibrant marine life. We also had the option to swim to the island, which began to disappear as the tide rose. Following that, we searched for dolphins, who entertained us with an impressive display. On our way back, we made a stop at the Coral Spirit, a fantastic seafood restaurant along the beach. Our orders had been made during the outward trip, so they were ready upon arrival. The quality of the food was impeccable. We enjoyed snapper, crab, prawns, and lobster, which had a reasonable extra charge of £7.50 for the lobster and £15 for the prawns. Dessert included fruit and the freshest mangos we've ever tasted. As we sailed home, the crew surprised us with a delightful performance of Kenyan music. The day's organization was flawless, allowing us to relax while everything was handled seamlessly.
The activity was unexpectedly canceled at the last moment because of bad weather near the Kisité reserve. The operator struggled to inform us promptly, but Coral Spirit refunded us through the booking site that same day and offered a complimentary alternative activity with a glass bottom boat to see the fish. It was a nice gesture.
I feel incredibly thankful to have chosen this group for my journey to Wasini. Every crew member was friendly, considerate, and very generous. The boat ride was stunning, and they made sure we had plenty of time to enjoy and capture footage of the dolphins. A delightful bonus was visiting the village where Captain Jerry was born and meeting his charming niece and nephew. The highlight was the music as we made our way to lunch. I have so many positive things to say, and Marion, our host, was wonderfully gracious.
It was an incredible experience. We were fortunate to see dolphins swimming and some adventurous swimmers joining them. The sail to the location was thrilling, albeit a bit nerve-wracking, with the waves at their peak. I would definitely do this again.
