The meal began with seaweed and chili chapati, followed by chicken and red snapper, finishing with fruits. The paths on the island are formed from the sharp coral, with extensive mangrove coverage and imposing coral boulders. Our last stop was the Shimoni Caves, historically significant as a major slave port in the 18th century, where natural caves held slave pens. The total cave system spans 5 km, where slaves were brought in and held until their ships arrived. It was a fantastic day filled with fun and learning—Kenya is incredibly fascinating and enjoyable.
