Two hours of immersive puzzle-solving through downtown — a scavenger hunt exploring real-world clues and Detroit's landmarks.
This outdoor activity combines puzzle-solving, scavenger hunting, and urban exploration as you make your way through downtown Detroit. Over approximately two hours, players will search for real-world clues, crack codes, and interact with well-known local landmarks and murals.
The difficulty of the puzzles can be adjusted, allowing participants to choose how many hints they’d like to take. You’ll use an app to enter your solutions and uncover the next location in the storyline.
If you book your spot a week or more in advance, your kit will be mailed to you; otherwise, you’ll need to pick it up on the day of the adventure. This flexibility allows for a tailored approach to your experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor escape room experience in Detroit. It provided a fantastic opportunity to explore parts of the city we would typically overlook. The clues were well-designed and thoughtfully integrated elements of the city.
The activity fulfilled two desires: our daughters wanted an escape room experience, and we aimed to explore the sights. It was enjoyable and got us moving while sightseeing. However, we mistakenly opened the wrong envelope first, resulting in us playing incorrectly until late in the game. This was somewhat disappointing—not a fault of the game itself—but a heads-up to carefully check everything before starting, as the envelopes were not sorted in any order within the box.
I absolutely loved it! The challenge level was just right. I organized a half-day team-building outing for my coworkers, and everything ran smoothly. The only downside was feeling a bit rushed to finish and return to work. Ultimately, we only needed clues for two puzzles, but none were overly simplistic.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Escapley in Detroit. The clues were engaging and entertaining, and we found ourselves needing some hints. We encountered another group participating, and they seemed to be having a great time as well. This experience taught us a lot about the city, and my son especially loved capturing photos of all the art we were previously unaware of. We really hope more experiences are created for Detroit because we would definitely participate again.
This experience was incredibly enjoyable and provided a welcome change from typical escape rooms. After a decade of visiting escape rooms several times a year, exploring new areas of Detroit while supporting local businesses was refreshing. The puzzles were challenging yet solvable, and our group of four adults and one 12-year-old managed to complete most without using hints, only resorting to them for the final two. It was a fantastic way to spend a Saturday evening; I highly recommend it.
It was enjoyable, although somewhat challenging. I realize it’s an escape room, but some guidance on certain clues would have been beneficial. I would certainly participate again.
The trip between Christmas and New Year's was enjoyable. A comprehensive visit requires at least 5 or 6 days. Although the cold weather included some snow, it was tolerable. Several museums were closed on New Year's Day; however, the ones that were open, like The Henry Ford (note that the Village closes on November 30), the Charles Wright African American History Museum, the Art Museum, and Belle Isle (the conservatory and aquarium are great but crowded), are worth a visit. The Renaissance Center offers an incredible view from its high floors, but check the restaurant hours as there's not much else nearby. The downtown free People Mover and QLine are great to use. There are many excellent restaurants serving a variety of cultural cuisines, and the locals are notably friendly to tourists. Pictures could not be added.
This was an enjoyable experience with just the right level of challenge; it made us think without being overly difficult. We got to explore some amazing areas of the city, and the storyline was engaging. The price was reasonable for what we received.
I wanted to create a unique experience with my family, so I opted for the outdoor escape room in Detroit. It turned out to be the best choice of our trip. My wife, daughter, and I had an enjoyable time solving the mystery while exploring the city. The challenge was rewarding as we progressed, and I was pleasantly surprised that my 22-year-old daughter found it exciting. She took charge and was eager to crack the case. The price is reasonable, and the ability to play at our own pace was a plus. Having more participants enhanced our experience, as there were numerous hidden gems that could be tough to find with just a couple of people. We spent hours engrossed in the game without even noticing the time pass. Now, we plan our future travels to see if Escapely can be part of our next adventure.
This experience was incredibly enjoyable. Having just relocated to Detroit, my sister and her husband visited, and this activity offered a wonderful opportunity to explore the city and discover its history. The challenges were quite tough at times, but the clues were extremely useful. We felt thrilled when we finally solved them. I plan to buy three more games to have on hand for future guests. I highly suggest Escapely to anyone looking for a fun time.
