Reviews
We anticipated a more enriching experience from this tour, especially given Detroit's rich history. The tour began late due to the guide's tardiness, and thereafter, everything felt hurried. Instead of delving into historical narratives, it was more focused on sightseeing, which was disappointing. To top it off, we finished over a mile away from the starting point and had to navigate back independently as the guide extended the tour for a few who paid extra.
There was a lot of walking required to get between locations, and the guide was somewhat good but not exceptional. The tour felt lacking in spookiness, and we had to walk back a mile to the car after it ended, which was inconvenient. However, the nice weather was a positive aspect. Most of the buildings would have been more interesting to see during daylight.
The young guide who took us around downtown was excellent. Our tour included not just intriguing spooky tales but also some rock and roll history. My spouse and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would love to do it again.
The weather for walking around Detroit was great, but the tour left much to be desired. It became almost comical when the guide claimed that Prince haunts the Majestic Theater.
We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the town, gaining insights into Detroit, and discovering locations we might have overlooked without the tour. Our guide was personable, informed, and ensured we had a wonderful experience.
This tour was enjoyable for my family and me. As noted by other reviewers, the guide does leave the group at a random street about 20 minutes away from where we began, which is inconvenient.
A fantastic destination to give your kids a good scare. It's certainly worth making the journey.
The experience did not meet my expectations at all. You walk about a quarter mile to each of the four or five so-called "haunted" locations, and you can't go inside any. Ultimately, you end up a mile from where you parked. I gave an extra star for the friendly and knowledgeable guide. Although I paid for the extended tour, I was disengaged by midway through the main tour. My girlfriend and I considered leaving within the first 15 minutes, but we felt bad for the guide. Overall, I am quite disappointed and feel this was a waste of our Friday night.
This tour didn’t feel like a true ghost experience. Only the initial stop involved ghosts; the other locations were mostly about notable deaths or mysterious events. It was an okay walking tour, and I gained some insights about Detroit, but it was only vaguely related to ghosts. A better name would be “walking tour of mildly creepy landmarks.”
The experience was okay. Detroit’s layout means there were long walks with only brief stories at each stop. A driving tour might have been more effective. Our guide had strong opinions, which was a bit off-putting; for instance, he dismissed my wife's favorite film as the worst from that director. However, he did have a deep knowledge of the sites and showed real interest in the topic.
