Jim's extensive knowledge of Detroit's history made our tour truly memorable. His warm and hospitable nature added to the fun experience. Walking through downtown, we enjoyed the aromas of local food while learning about the buildings' histories. We had a great time. One suggestion: consider replacing the Coney Island Hotdog with a delicious cappuccino. Excellent job, Jim; this tour was a wonderful introduction to Detroit.
Jim served as an excellent tour guide. The food stops were both enjoyable and tasty. We also appreciated the historical context provided during the tour.
This tour was excellent! Kaleb proved to be an outstanding guide, and the food was fantastic. We enjoyed Feta style Detroit pizza, which offered a fun twist on the classic dish.
As someone visiting Detroit for the first time, I aimed to get a comprehensive view of the city. The 3-hour walking tour exceeded my expectations, covering Detroit's history, architecture, culture, and even restaurant suggestions. We explored the riverfront, stunning historic buildings, and various monuments. I've already suggested this tour to my colleagues nearby.
We drove to Downtown Detroit eager for our walking food tour, but our guide never arrived or even informed us they wouldn't be coming. This was completely unprofessional and unacceptable; we've experienced many walking tours globally and have never faced such treatment. We certainly didn't expect this from TripAdvisor.
Terry, our guide, was exceptional! Her knowledge of history and insights into the downtown redevelopment were impressive. I particularly liked the Detroit pizza and the delightful bonbons. It was a great tour that I highly recommend.
Our guide, KAYLEB, arrived half an hour late and offered minimal commentary while we walked to an architectural site. Another couple mentioned that he seemed like he hadn’t been properly vetted. He lacked personality, engagement, knowledge, and enthusiasm about the subject, ending the tour with a weak "goodbye" at the last restaurant. We were then left to navigate our own way back to the starting point.
There are numerous attractions to explore, a rich history to discover, and an abundance of delicious food to savor.
The guide was pleasant, but lacked in providing information. It was difficult to hear her unless standing close by. I've experienced several food tours in other cities, and this one was the least organized. We waited 20-30 minutes at the first restaurant without any food being served. There wasn't much context shared about the city, and the food was average; the Detroit pizza was particularly underwhelming. Local participants recommended Loui’s or Buddy’s for a more authentic Detroit pizza experience.
Initially, it was raining heavily, but the guide arrived on time. We sampled some of Detroit's famous foods, but I wished we had more insight into the history of these dishes. Without that context, the food felt disconnected from the city.
