It is recommended to obtain this permit during the Indian visa application process. It can also be obtained in India at various locations, but this may take time: District Magistrate’s office in Darjeeling; Rangpo checkpost while traveling to Gangtok; or Melli checkpost en route to Pelling. • Holders of diplomatic and official passports, and citizens from Bangladesh, China, Pakistan, Myanmar, Taiwan, and Nigeria can only acquire this permit from the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi or from Indian embassies abroad. • Following the acquisition of the Sikkim Inner Line permit, a Restricted Area permit is required to visit Lake Tsomgo. The guest must complete and submit a form along with scanned copies of their passport, valid Indian visa, passport-sized photograph, and Sikkim Inner Line Permit at least 10 working days before travel. • All original documents must be carried by guests on the travel date. • The type of vehicle used to reach Lake Tsomgo will depend on availability. • The activity is contingent on favorable weather conditions. • The application form for the Restricted Area Permit will be emailed following the confirmation of your booking.

• Morning pickup will take place from your hotel for the journey to Lake Tsomgo, located 25 miles from Gangtok. The route from Gangtok to Lake Tsomgo features a thrilling drive as the altitude rapidly increases from 5,410 feet to 10,000 feet over 25 miles, resulting in a steep gradient along the road. Lake Tsomgo is a glacial body of water that typically remains frozen throughout winter, which can extend until May. During summer, the snow melts and contributes to the lake's water supply. The clear waters reflect the colors of the adjacent landscape, enhancing the beauty of the area. You will have some time to relax at the lake before returning to Gangtok. After arriving in Gangtok, you will be dropped back at your hotel.
