Private day hike to Tonglu near the Indo-Nepal border

This private day hike begins with a drive to Maneybhanjang, following the scenic Hill Cart Road that connects Darjeeling with the plains. After passing Ghoom, noted as the highest rail station in India, you reach Maneybhanjang where the trek starts. The trail leads you through dense forests to Tonglu, which stands at 3,036 metres and offers views into Singalila National Park.

The trek is approximately 11 kilometres one way, and you’ll reach Tonglu by afternoon. Once at Tonglu, take in the fresh air and mountain scenery before retracing your steps back to Maneybhanjang. The drive from there to Darjeeling is about 35 kilometres. Proper trekking shoes and warm clothing are advisable, as temperatures can drop at higher elevations.
