Even if restrictions were removed, I'd still choose Lost Plate for their exceptional service. The groups are small enough to comfortably sit together to share family-style meals, enjoying numerous dishes throughout the week—definitely more than I could manage on my own. The guides ensure that popular dishes are reordered if the whole group enjoys them. The activities are tailored to provide unique experiences rather than just checklist sightseeing. Lost Plate Tours connects fellow food enthusiasts who enjoy outdoor experiences. With small groups of up to 10, the service feels personal, allowing us to set our own pace. We were lucky to have Daisy as our main guide and support from Brian, whose attentive and friendly approach made our trip unforgettable.
They do not take proper care of your belongings, and when things get damaged, they refuse to reimburse you. It's hard to keep receipts for clothes, and my perfume and gifts from Marrakech came without bills, which means I get nothing back. They seem like thieves.
I joined this tour with Daisy in April 2023 and had an excellent experience. The itinerary was thoughtfully arranged, showcasing the highlights along the historic tea and horse caravan route, with delicious food at every stop. I took an afternoon train from Kunming Railway Station to Lijiang, which took about 4 hours and 10 minutes. After that, a 25-minute taxi ride cost 45 RMB to Lijiang Old Town (Dayan). I stayed at Songzhuju, a delightful and clean hotel just a 4-minute walk from the North entrance. The nights and early mornings were a bit chilly at 12 degrees C. The nightlife in Old Town is vibrant, tasteful, and incredibly relaxing. The hotel provided excellent service and local insights, especially from 'Ah Fei,' who offered valuable advice and ensured our comfort. I was captivated by the Naxi culture and music, and the Hotpot cuisine was a must-try. I will definitely return.
