The food tour in Columbus' Short North District was truly memorable, filled with delightful surprises and meaningful experiences. We began with surprisingly delicious spicy chicken from Hot Chicken Takeover, enhanced by the manager's story. At Black Radish Creamery, I was won over by the pimento cheese and got an insightful glimpse into cheesemaking. The journey continued with flavorful dumplings from Momo Ghar, a satisfying Somali sambusa from Hoyos Kitchen, and the enticing scent from the spice booth. Our guide Ash brought us to The Guild House, followed by a perfect slice of vegan coffee cake and iced chai from Park Service Coffee, and a standout falafel plate from Brassica. We concluded at Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, sampling flavors before indulging in two generous scoops. Each stop was not only about great food, but also rich in heart, culture, and personality—thanks to Ash, whose energy, expertise, and passion for the city transformed a simple tasting tour into an experience I wholeheartedly recommend.
During my three-day visit to Columbus, I joined the Short North food walking tour on Friday, August 1st. Our guide, Andy Herbert, was entertaining and very knowledgeable, making the experience enjoyable. I had the opportunity to try a variety of delicious foods I had never tasted before. We began at the marketplace and then ventured to different locations. I learned about Cameron Mitchell hotels and restaurants as we explored the Short North arts district, stopping to sample food along the way. We had enough to feel satisfied for lunch and concluded the tour at an ice cream shop. It was an excellent tour, and I appreciate Andy's attention to our small group of seven.
We enjoyed this tour with our son and daughter-in-law, who recently relocated to the area, and it was a truly delightful experience. Our guide, Abby, was remarkable—very friendly, engaging, and well-informed. The food servings were plentiful, tasty, and varied. We appreciated the opportunity to learn more about Columbus while exploring an art gallery and admiring beautiful murals. A useful tip: the nearby garage offers partial parking validation if you use it near the Short North Market. We coincidentally booked on a game day, which turned into an unexpected private tour for just the four of us. I highly recommend this tour for locals and visitors alike.
The food was amazing, and our host was wonderful. There was an incredible selection ranging from cheese and chicken wings to sauerkraut balls, gourmet dishes, and ice cream. This is a must-do experience.
The food tour in the Short North of Columbus was an excellent way for us to explore the area as newcomers. Starting at the North Market, we visited various restaurants, with Hot Chicken Takeover being our favorite due to their inspiring community involvement. We enjoyed learning some history while sampling several delicious dishes. The weather was perfect, and the flat walking routes made it easy. We found convenient parking in the garage near the North Market, which was validated for a discount. We highly recommend this tour and are eager to try more from this company. The group size was around ten, making it very manageable.
