A full day on the water exploring Playa Drake and Venas Azules — snorkeling, kayaking, and a relaxing lunch included, with hotel pickup from Colón available.
This day-long catamaran cruise takes you through the beautiful Portobelo National Park, visiting two contrasting locations: Playa Drake, renowned for its excellent snorkeling opportunities, and the serene Venas Azules, a turquoise lagoon surrounded by mangroves.
For those opting for hotel pickup, you’ll be collected from Colón and whisked to the historic town of Portobelo, which dates back to 1597. Here, you’ll board the catamaran and enjoy the wind in the sails as you head to your destinations. During the cruise, activities like swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding are available, alongside time to relax on the beach or aboard the catamaran.
Reviews
The drive was longer than expected, around 1.5 to 2 hours from Panama City, and calling the water taxi a speed boat feels misleading as it took about 5-10 minutes to reach the catamaran. However, the captain, who also acted as our chef, and the deckhand were great. We made two beautiful stops; while the snorkeling was average compared to some amazing locations I've visited, the water temperature was pleasant. At our second stop, we were thrilled to spot two sloths in the trees. Overall, despite the mentioned aspects, I would recommend this experience as it was also interesting to see the countryside.
The day turned out wonderfully. The captain and his first mate were extremely accommodating, putting in a lot of effort to make sure we had an enjoyable experience and our needs were met. The weather was excellent, and seeing sloths in the trees at Playa Blanca was a nice surprise. Snorkeling at Playa Blanca was the highlight of the day.
I had a positive experience on this trip. The captain was friendly, although only he spoke English. It takes about two hours to reach Portobelo, but the transport was comfortable. The catamaran is an older, smaller model, yet still enjoyable. This excursion is perfect for relaxing and taking in the scenery, plus there are opportunities for swimming and snorkeling, with chances to see monkeys and sloths. The food was good, but I suggest bringing your own snacks in case you get hungry.
The tour was very well organized and packed with activities. Even though the weather was rainy, it didn't diminish my enjoyment of the experience. I would definitely recommend it.
The experience was extremely disappointing and not worth it at all. The food rated only 2 or 3 out of 10. The catamaran was old and quite small. To top it off, they charged us an unreasonable fee.
The snorkeling and swimming at the beaches were the highlights for our kids. It’s a great family activity, though we wish the boat was larger to fit more people on the roof.
This experience did not meet our expectations and wasn't worth the $200 per person. The catamaran was quite small and in poor condition. We spent more time traveling in the car than enjoying the sea. The food was just average, and there were no drinks provided. Other tours provide better value for money.
I had an amazing time on this trip. The captain and crew were incredibly attentive, and the food was excellent. As a vegan, I appreciated the special dish they prepared for me. We visited some wonderful snorkeling locations, and the boat was larger and in better shape than I expected. It was clear that everyone was passionate about their work.
I had a wonderful day; the trip matched the description perfectly. I loved spending time on the water. Just a heads up, it is about a one-hour drive from Panama City, so it makes for a lengthy day.
This trip offers a serene experience with stunning views. It's important to note that passengers must transfer between boats. While the toilet on our boat was inoperable, we were informed ahead of time and given ample chances to use restrooms. Jenny prepared a fantastic lunch, and the crew on board was excellent as well.
