Carol expertly guided us through the bustling market on a busy holiday Friday. We experienced an impressive variety of tastings, all of which were excellent. The vendors were kind and generous with their samples. The only suggestion I have is to provide business cards for the sampled products. After the tour, we returned and made several purchases.
Carol was an incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating guide who made sure everyone felt welcome. Even though I didn't inform her in advance that two members of our group were gluten-free, she quickly provided suitable alternatives. The tour was interesting for both locals and out-of-towners, filled with insider details about the market's history and its vendors that you wouldn't learn on your own. We would have appreciated a map or a list of the vendors we visited, making it easier to return for purchases later.
The guide shared fascinating details about the area's history, the building, and the Westside Market. She led us inside, introduced us to several vendors, explained their offerings, and provided tastings.
I had an excellent tour with Carol in late August. It was enjoyable to learn some history about the building and the market. I really appreciated most of the food stops, especially the jerky, which was a delightful surprise. Unlike some larger markets like Reading Terminal or Pike Place, this experience felt more manageable. This tour offers a great chance to explore more of Cleveland beyond just the downtown area. Plus, Great Lakes Brewing is conveniently located next door for those who enjoy beer.
Carol proved to be an excellent tour guide with a deep understanding of Cleveland and the Westside Market. I will certainly recommend this experience to others.
The tour was quite engaging, and Carol was a friendly and knowledgeable guide. While I don't regret participating, I'm uncertain if I would recommend it. I think exploring the market independently could provide a similarly enjoyable experience, allowing you to save money for products.
Be bold and sample everything! If you visit in the winter, make sure to dress warmly, as it can get quite chilly inside. Carol was our guide, and she was exceptional. All the vendors were wonderful.
I had an amazing experience with Carol, our guide who is a native of Cleveland and incredibly knowledgeable about the market. As someone who appreciates old architecture, I enjoyed discovering the history of the Market and the stories behind the vendors, along with sampling fantastic food.
The best way to describe the tour is underwhelming. Our guide, Carol, was knowledgeable and professional, making her an excellent leader. However, the tour itself was lacking. I was glad to have eaten beforehand. There were about seven stops at West Side Market, which featured an overwhelming amount of sweets. Compared to other food tours at this price point that I've experienced in various cities, I usually finish feeling satisfied, but the samples here were quite small and disorganized. We started at a hot dog stand, where each person received just a small piece of hotdog without bread or condiments. Next was a bakery offering a tiny piece of apple fritter, followed by a juice stand where we got a bottle of water and a condiment cup of juice. Other offerings included yogurt with granola, shared dried fruits and vegetables, a small olive sampler, tiny pieces of cheese with no crackers, olive oil, small bits of jerky, chocolate-covered pretzels, and a buckeye. Overall, this tour did not meet my expectations.
This was an enjoyable and insightful tour of a fantastic market. There are many delicious food options and the vendors are very friendly. The food samples are modest in size and diverse, while the guide effectively discusses the food and vendors.
