We had an incredible time on the St. Lawrence River. The scenery was spectacular, and the narrator was excellent despite the less-than-ideal weather. I highly recommend this company for anyone interested in exploring the Thousand Islands.
The scenery was stunning and truly breathtaking. Captain Matt deserves five stars, and his deckhand Liam provided excellent narration. The bar and snacks were a nice addition. A very professional and great team overall.
Over the past 45 years, we have experienced many tours, but this year we chose something new. We traveled with young children aged 7-11 and seniors, one of whom had trouble with stairs. The crew provided a ramp, allowing everyone to participate fully. For a birthday celebration with ten people, the kids surprised the boat captain and first mate by having mini cupcakes and got them to sing, spreading joy to everyone on board. The children enjoyed exploring the islands and getting close to a ‘Salty’. We learned new information about the islands and their surroundings, even though some of us are locals. Being on a smaller boat allowed us to view different aspects of the islands. Although we didn't stop at Bolt Castle, we had the chance to circle it closely. The staff and crew were exceptionally kind and knowledgeable. We are looking forward to booking another tour with them next year, as there are so many options to consider. Thank you, Clayton Island Tours!
We had an excellent experience on this trip, thanks to our fantastic narrator who was informative and friendly. Although the tour was a bit lengthy, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The boat was clean, comfortable, and we learned a lot about both sides of the island.
Amazing cruise. The crew was fantastic, and Brad was particularly friendly, providing us with plenty of information. It's definitely worth both your time and money. Enjoy the experience.
The lighthouses and castles were impressive, but the glass bottom boat experience was disappointing—I couldn't see the water because the bottom was dirty and green. I felt misled by their advertising since other glass bottom boats actually let you see below. The first mate was quite rude, even suggesting that we should tip him as we returned to the dock, which frustrated me. I will never choose this company again.
Without a boat tour, Clayton in the 1000 Islands offers limited activities. Scenic views of the river and islands are obstructed by homes and trees along the roads. The downtown area is small, experiencing heavy traffic and scarce parking. Dining options are limited, primarily featuring hamburgers, and many distilleries were closed during our visit. The best part was a drive 7 miles north to The Gals ice cream stand.
Maggie, our guide, was charming and very knowledgeable, and the tour itself was stunning. I highly recommend this experience for those visiting the area for the first time or anyone wanting to unwind on the St. Lawrence River.
Our day on the river was wonderful. Liam made for an outstanding tour guide. I strongly recommend this experience. The boat departed on time, and lunch was fresh and waiting for us upon arrival. The castle and lighthouse tickets were part of the tour cost.
The tour provided an outstanding narrative about the 1000 Islands. We were fortunate to have perfect weather, which enhanced the experience, especially the visits to Boldt Castle and the lighthouse.
