During our visit to friends near Clayton in NY, we chose this boat and castle tour after considering several options that fit our needs at a good price. The boat guide was excellent, sharing plenty of knowledge about the region along with entertaining anecdotes. I recommend sitting near the guide since the sounds from the river and boat can sometimes make it difficult to hear. The castle tour was enjoyable as well, and I appreciated the availability of a golf cart for those with mobility challenges, plus an elevator inside the castle.
The boat ride was steady and comfortable, thanks to the skilled captain and knowledgeable guide. There were optional picnic lunch and drink choices available before the trip as well.
It's a captivating location, and the short film provided inside the room helps contextualize the experience. The scenery is stunning. You can bring a lunch or picnic, which is great for enjoying the views from the lawn or picnic tables. I visited on a sunny day with perfect weather. Overall, it’s definitely a worthwhile place to check out. I missed the boathouse, but you can purchase a ticket for a tour there.
This was an excellent trip! Michelle provided an abundance of fascinating information. Experiencing both Canadian and U.S. islands was incredible. I appreciate a wonderful afternoon!
The weather was lovely, though having a jacket was wise. We learned a great deal about the St. Lawrence River, including its currents, historical events, wildlife, shipwrecks, and the more than 1800 islands and their inhabitants.
We had a fantastic and informative experience during the ride and castle visit. The staff were both friendly and knowledgeable, and the tour was particularly engaging. The cost was quite reasonable. However, this activity is somewhat lengthy and, while ideal for adults, may not be suitable for families with young children. For those with difficulty moving around, be aware that the tour includes significant walking, including hills, though there is an elevator in the castle. If you dislike listening to a narrative, this may not be for you; consider opting for a simple transport ride instead. If you're interested in the area's history and its people, you will greatly enjoy this tour.
The main difficulty was hearing the guide due to the noise from the boat's engine. Other than that, it was a pleasant experience.
The ride was fantastic! Our guide shared captivating facts about the island's history. I really enjoyed Boldt Castle, though I wish we had more time to explore it. Overall, the experience met our expectations!
I had a fantastic experience on this afternoon excursion. The guide shared extensive knowledge of the local history, and the ride was enjoyable, relaxing, and smooth. Highly recommend it!
The sightseeing experience was absolutely fantastic. Initially, a layer of mist covered the islands, but after about 40 minutes, the fog cleared, revealing an indescribably stunning view of the islands that was magnificent and captivating. With our guide’s wonderful and passionate commentary, we truly enjoyed a delightful journey.
