Two-hour guided tour covering one mile on foot and streetcar — exploring Cincinnati's Over-the-Rhine above and below ground, ending with a round of pints.
This two-hour guided tour of Cincinnati's Over-the-Rhine neighbourhood covers approximately one mile, mixing walking with a streetcar ride. You’ll visit notable landmarks such as Findlay Market, Music Hall, and Washington Park, while also diving into the area’s underground history, including the Lafayette Brewery and the old subway system beneath Central Parkway.
The tour culminates in a visit three stories underground to the historic Gerke Brewery, which dates back to the 1850s. Guests should be aware that this part involves steep stairs; however, anyone can choose to remain at street level. The experience finishes at a local taproom with a round of pints just a short walk from where you began.
Reviews
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and led us to some fascinating locations. He also suggested some excellent places for food and beer.
The walking tour was both engaging and educational. Our guide, Mike Ward, was fantastic—very friendly and well-informed. We gained a lot of insights into Cincinnati's history. My husband and I truly enjoyed it.
Everything was excellent! Mike was outstanding as a guide. The tour was both enjoyable and educational, and I loved discovering the historical details about Cincinnati.
My friends and I had an excellent experience. We gained a lot of knowledge, explored the old beer storage areas beneath the city, and finished off with some beer. There's no better way to conclude a tour. Our guide, Lisa, was both engaging and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this tour.
Parking was nonexistent. I spent more than 20 minutes searching and ultimately couldn’t join the tour. I am very unhappy with the miscommunication regarding this important detail.
The tour was quite informative, with Mike effectively sharing the history. The beer cellar was impressive. I encountered a flat tire while heading down, but they were very flexible and allowed me to switch to a later time, and we still made it!
The tour felt very hurried, with an overload of information given mainly as a list of dates. There was no opportunity to stop for photos or revisit spots. The staircase leading down to the underground tunnel was quite frightening; if I had known, I probably wouldn’t have booked, especially for those who may find it challenging.
Our time exploring the area with Mike was wonderful. The tour was not only informative but also engaging and interesting. Mike was attentive and offered great assistance throughout.
The tour was highly informative and tailored just for us. Being the only participants allowed the guide to create a memorable experience.
The tour was enjoyable, with a guide who was both knowledgeable and engaging. It's important for potential participants to be aware that the experience involves a lot of walking, as well as some steep and narrow stairways. Those with mobility issues or who require special accommodations should be cautious, as wheelchair accessibility is limited.
