Three hours — a brewery tour, underground lagering cellars, streetcar ride, brunch, and a pint at the Lackman Bar for a taste of Cincinnati's brewing history.
This three-hour culinary and historical tour begins at the Cincinnati Lager House with a flight of beers, followed by a brief tour of the brewpub and a freshly prepared brunch. After brunch, hop on a streetcar toward Over-the-Rhine, exploring the remnants of Cincinnati's brewing heritage, from well-known breweries to smaller, often overlooked relics.
One highlight is the visit to the historic underground lagering cellars of the Park Brewery, which haven't been accessible to visitors for many years and can only be seen through this tour. Following this unique underground experience, enjoy a pint at the Lackman Bar, situated at a former pre-Prohibition saloon site. The tour wraps up with a return streetcar ride to the starting point at Cincinnati Lager House.
Reviews
I had a great time on this tour, and the guide was very informative. The brunch menu offered a nice variety, and I appreciated sampling several types of beer. The Park underground cellar and Lackman bar were visually and historically intriguing. I will definitely suggest this tour to others.
The tour was fantastic, featuring a great mix of stops. Our guide was outstanding, sharing in-depth knowledge about Cincinnati's history and keeping everyone engaged. The food and beer at Moerlein were superb.
The tour is poorly organized and lacks necessary technology. Meeting at Moerlein Lager House is problematic since it doesn't open until 11. The experience began on a negative note, and walking around the brewery delayed our enjoyment of the cold food and warm beer. Even though the guide acknowledged the need to get us back quickly, it didn't happen. A message from the server could have significantly improved things, and a small microphone for better sound would have helped as the restaurant was noisy. Additionally, there was only one more stop for beer, and we finished the tour an hour early. I suggest avoiding this tour.
Spending the day was enjoyable. I gained a lot of insights into brewing beer and Cincinnati. Lisa was an excellent tour guide with extensive knowledge. The food and beer were also fantastic.
