Less than one mile walking tour through Cincinnati's Brewery District, featuring historic buildings and a local beer tasting at the end.
This tour explores the Brewery District, starting at the Brewing Heritage Trail Sign at Findlay Market. You'll stroll through the area, noting the 19th and early 20th-century buildings that played pivotal roles during the beer industry's rise. The tour includes access to the subterranean lager cellars of the historic, non-operating Jackson Brewery, providing a unique look at brewing history without the need for stairs.
You'll visit notable sites such as the Sohn/Mohawk Brewery and various Christian Moerlein locations, along with the Bellevue Incline. The overall walking distance is manageable at less than a mile. The tour concludes with a visit to a local taproom for a complimentary pint of craft beer.
Reviews
The tour lasted two hours but only included about 45 minutes of useful information, and much of it felt over-dramatized and questionable. The husband-and-wife guide duo often corrected each other or spoke over one another, which created an awkward atmosphere. It would be better to use the free Brewing Heritage Tour app and explore on your own. That way, you could visit Ghost Baby in downtown Cincinnati and enjoy a drink in a large lager storage bunker instead of the rundown location featured on this tour.
The walking tour around Findlay Market was enjoyable. It included a visit to a former brewery and concluded with a drink at a local brewery. Most of the experience focused on the surroundings of Findlay Market, covering less than a mile in total over the 2-hour duration.
We took the Built on Beer tour on Friday the 31st and had an excellent experience. Our guide, Kanah, was very knowledgeable and entertaining, and we gained a lot of insights. I highly recommend this tour.
This tour was fantastic. With just two couples in the group, it felt intimate and unique. Our guide was excellent, and even the rain didn't dampen our spirits. I would definitely do this tour again; it was very worthwhile.
This was an excellent walking tour filled with a lot of history. I highly recommend it. Lisa, our guide, was fantastic. It was cold, but completely worth it.
The tour guides did an excellent job, although having a bullhorn would have improved communication given the traffic. Overall, we had a fantastic experience thanks to Jack and Rory.
I really enjoyed the tour and even as a local from Cincinnati, I discovered many new things. Rory was entertaining and involved throughout the experience.
Rowan was an excellent tour guide, providing a wealth of information. We had a fantastic time and gained a lot of knowledge about Cincinnati's brewery history.
Jack brought an engaging and informative energy to the tour. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and gained a deeper understanding of our local city. Thank you, Jack—I'll be sure to recommend you to others.
Jack was our guide, and he was undoubtedly one of the best we've had. He had extensive knowledge about the locations we explored, was incredibly patient, and truly excelled at conducting tours on Easter. We’re already planning to book at least two more tours for the summer and fall seasons.
