It derives its name from the tiger head carvings at the entrance of a cave that is part of the site. Built in the early 8th century, this remarkable complex features some of the most exquisite bas-reliefs in the world, which are often overlooked by tourists due to its somewhat secluded location. • Impressive monolithic structures from the 6th century were constructed during the reign of King Narasimhavarman II (circa 690–725 CE). • Another significant creation from the Pallava Dynasty, this temple is included in the Group of Monuments at Mahabalipuram, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. • The shore temple is constructed from granite blocks and dates back to the 8th century AD. It is recognized as one of the oldest structural stone temples in Southern India, built during a time when the area served as a bustling port under the rule of Narasimhavarman II of the ancient Pallava dynasty.
