My husband and I decided to take a spontaneous cruise vacation along the east coast of Canada without any planned excursions, which isn’t always advisable, but we wanted to try it. One of our stops was in Charlottetown, PEI, where we met Ross at the port. We connected with him immediately and chose to hire him for a private tour of the area. Ross provided an assortment of snacks and drinks, along with individual hand towelettes, and he thought to bring beach towels and a lightweight mat when we stopped at the beach to clean our feet. He was thoughtful about our timeline and budget, always keeping us informed about how long we had spent and suggesting alternatives that could adjust our schedule. With ample time in port, we weren’t worried about returning to the cruise ship, but Ross would have ensured we made it back on time regardless. During a five-hour tour, he led us clockwise around the heart of PEI, starting in historic Charlottetown, visiting the Confederation Bridge, enjoying a delicious lunch in Stanley Bridge, walking on the beach in Cavendish, and exploring Rustico. His storytelling about PEI's history, culture, and industries was captivating. He also treated us to light snacks and bottled water in his clean vehicle. It was refreshing to escape the crowds of our cruise ship’s coach tours, often arriving at sites with minimal people around.
