Four-and-a-half hours by air-conditioned mini bus — round-trip from downtown Charleston, includes house tour, garden walk, and optional tram ride based on availability.
This half-day excursion from Charleston takes you to Boone Hall Plantation, one of America’s oldest working plantations, with round-trip transportation provided by an air-conditioned mini bus. You'll depart from the Visitors Center and travel with a small group limited to 25 people for a more personal experience.
Upon arrival, the tour includes all entrance fees, a guided tour of the plantation house, access to the Gullah Theater (if in season), and a self-guided exploration of the beautiful gardens and grounds. Additionally, a tram tour may be available, allowing you to cover more of the sprawling estate. Be prepared for varying weather — dress comfortably for walking around the grounds.
Reviews
The grounds are stunning. Our guides were both informative and engaging. This experience is definitely worth the investment of your money and time.
The ferry ride provided an excellent history lesson. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly, and they took the time to answer all our questions.
I highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in historical insights regarding this era, particularly the perspective of enslaved individuals. The Gullah presenter was captivating and engaging.
There are several excellent exhibits to explore. The information was engaging and held my attention. This experience was definitely worth the investment of time.
The Boone Farm Plantation was quite intriguing. However, it would have been beneficial to receive the schedule for events in advance as things felt a bit chaotic upon arrival. We also wished we had more time at the plantation. The trip was supposed to last up to 5 hours, but instead, we spent less than 4 hours total, with under 3 hours at the plantation.
The drive from Charleston to Boone Hall Plantation was delightful, with our driver providing an excellent narration. The grounds are stunning, and traveling down the Oak Lined Drive feels like stepping into the past. The Gullah people's presentation about their ancestors' experiences as enslaved individuals was insightful. I highly recommend this tour.
The excursion was outstanding. However, we encountered an issue with the meeting address and location for the group, which required us to walk 2.5 miles. It would have been helpful to specify that it was at the Bus Barn.
I had an excellent trip from beginning to end. The transportation was punctual, and the driver was well-informed, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Boone Hall was truly remarkable.
Definitely worth your time. Make sure to participate in everything.
Boone Hall is a fascinating and thought-provoking site to explore. My visit lasted three hours, but I felt I needed more time. Since it was an escorted tour, we had to return for transportation. If I return to the area, I'll definitely go by car to fully experience it.
